Has anyone read about this new Morphine Sulfate formulation that is said to be tamper proof? It's like the new Remoxy only it's a Morphine formulation that contains a chemical that will reverse the effects of the drug if crushed or melted down. I was just reading about it and frankly had never heard of it until now. It's called Embeda and King Pharm. has the OK to start selling it from the FDA. I don't know anything about strengths, length of time a dose will last you or anything else so I'm trying to see if anyone else knows anything more about this drug????
Why thank you Goat, that was rather quick and quite good. I never even thought about simply googling it. I actually thought it was something that really isn't ready for the public but I see that it is.
Thanks again...
The capsules contain pellets of morhpine around a sequestered core of naloxone. The amount of naloxone is negligable, unless you take too much, then it will just make the morphine not work. I haven't heard anything about pricing yet. As all new drugs are, I would expect them to be expensive in the beginning.

I have now read up on these little beggers at the Embeda.com site and I understand how they work and the strengths they come in too. What's confusing is that it can be dosed at 1 or 2 times a day but never any more than twice a day. I guess that would all depend on the strength you are taking, who knows. I mean, I thought there was either a 12 hr dosing or a 24 hr dosing like the Avinza but this says either or. Somewhat confusing there.
I actually take embeda 30mg 3 times a day, I dont see why taking it more than twice would hurt....
Embeda is what people who constantly "run out early" are going to be converted to.
I have just started taking embeda twice per day at 100mgs. I was taking opana er 40mgs twice per with norco 10/350 4x perday for breakthrough as well as Soma 350 4x per day. The embeda is supposed to replace the opana I just dont know how it will work. I have been working with a PM doc for well over 10 years as a result of multiple related work injuries. Has anyone made this type of switch
As of two days ago my pain doctor was not aware of this letter, it has important information that both patient and doctor need to be aware of:
"The omission of serious and potentially fatal risks associated with the use of
EMBEDA, as well as the misleading presentation of the potential for abuse, is especially
egregious and alarming in its potential impact on the public health."
