anyone heard of KADIAN, supposed to be a morphine sulphate extended release capsule which comes in 20/30/50/60/100 mg tabs.  the description sounds like Oxycontin which has been what I have used for the past 2 years.  Now my insurance insists I use generic and last month was the first month on TEVA brand oxy. Is it me or is this stuff just nothing.  I take a 40 mgm oxy 3 times a day.  I seem to read that Watson is the most compatible generic out there.  the CVS said they carry Fredric brand. Is this associated with fredric-purdue, or is there such a company? Just who makes Watson? I certainly will appreciate any info whatsoever both on this Kadian I have heard of and a good generic Oxy. Due to multiple traumas (car accidents) resulting in multiple surgeries combined with fibromyalgia and just a touch of OA I'm sometimes not a happy camper.  After only 3 weeks on this TEVA I am beginning to feel much more depressed and the pain relief is just not there. I do take anti-depressants. Please reach out to this newcomer who seeks help from those who are surrounded by this dark shadow in our lives called "CHRONIC PAIN".

Well there is a company

Well there is a company called PERDUE-FREDERICK which was the original Oxycontin maker. From what I understand they allowed WATSON to use their name as a generic for them. I was so sorry to see them be discontinued for I thought they were as close as you could have gotten to the brand name. As for Morphine ER I think PF make morphine called MS Contin, though I have never taken morphine. There are  more knowledgeable people than myself in this wonderful site that can explain it more explicitly

dylan is corrent. MS contin

dylan is corrent. MS contin is also an extended release formulation of morphine. General consensus is that purdue version seems to be more effective then the kadian capsules. Purdue pharma in general are very percision savvy drug manufacturers and it shows in thier products. MS Contin is also available in higher dosage then the kadian brand.

I hate to respond to a response to a post that is so old but, Kadian and MS Contins are both available in 200mg as the highest dosage. MS Contin is also technically a Controlled Release medication.
