Hi! I was recently prescribed a newish "food/drug" called LIMBREL by my pain doc.  Although it is a "Food/drug" it is available by Rx only.  The indication is for osteoarthritis.  The effectiveness profile is similar to Naproxen 1000mg per day.  This is a mystery as to why is is so unknown.  Anyway, as there are VERY few side effects listed we thought we would give it a spin.  I have had very bad luck with NSAIDS (Hypertension and GI upset).  Limbrel is not supposed to cause any of these...too good to be true???

Well a few days after I started taking it I developed a "macular rash" over my arms and thighs.  Also a little edema, and knee pain.  Anybody out there with experieince with Limbrel??

My hubby told me to get off it ASAP and start Benadyl (he is a doc).  He said Allergic Reaction.  It has been 3 days and I still have a bit of the rash and I'm still a little puffy and my hands and knees ache.  Anybody want to weigh in?

I also take Oxycodone for my pain (which is due to AS - a type of inflammatory arthritis of an autoimmune nature) but we all know I won't be getting my Oxycodone anymore....right?

Allergic Reaction

Naproxen does that to me. Break out in hives and all that good stuff also.

UpDate! on Limbrel

I'm guessing this is NOT a popular thread!  Oh Well, maybe it will stay in the archives and be of some help in the future.

Anyway, I digress, the story got worse!  I developed a fever 101.1+.  The next day I was in the hospital.  Diagnosis:  Drug Reaction.  I was put on Prednisone (and boy do I have heartburn from it!).  But rash, edema, fever, and large joint aches gone!

So...if anybody ever says " But it is all Natural" answer:  So is poison ivy and Cobra venom!
