I am taking three medications from which my psychiatrist prescribes, Lunesta, Klonopin, and Lexapro. Lunesta and Lexapro are unavailable in generic so until I reach my deductable i pay about 280 dollars for these three only per month not including my oxycontin which is about 140. I got him to switch the lexapro to a similar generic product although I am not sure what the name of it is. I think it starts with a C for depression/anxiety. Lunesta is 120 dollars for 30 3mg pills. That is so much money. The the similar dosage of ambien generic it is 15 dollars for me or less. For some reason my psychiatrist will not prescribe me ambien. The pharmacist was out of lunesta 3mg so he said he would call my doctor today and try to persuade him into prescriping me generic ambien which would save me 100 dollars a month. Why would my doctor not what to help me out and save me 100 dollars per month. I have tried ambien before because my mom takes it like once a week and it worked great. However i like lunesta a lot as well it just costs 10 times more right now.
Hey how can you get over the after taste of lunesta....errr it last me a day and a half... I take ambien generic and without insurance it is 52 bucks for 30 that drives me nuts how much can brand be..it makes me sick cause my zannex is 10 dollars for thirty generic
I've taken both Lunesta and Ambien. At first, neither were covered by my insurance. The Lunesta was waaaaaaaaaay too much for me to spend, so my doctor gave me a script for Zolpidem Tartrate (generic Ambien). At one pharmacy they wanted $54 for these pills (which is a lot for me). I then went to the pharmacy at the hospital and they only charged me $5.54 for 30! They will only fill prescriptions there for people who see a doctor at that hospital though. Anyway, shop around because you can find Zolpidem Tartrate pretty inexpensively now. I couldn't even imagine trying to pay for Lunesta. I'm not sure why your doctor won't prescribe it for your Spencej. Have you explained to him that you simply can't afford the Lunesta anymore? You may want to try going to Ambien's website and see if they still have a 7-night free trial going on. I printed out a coupon on their website a couple month's back and you just have your doctor write a 7-day prescription for the new 2-layered Ambien and it's covered for free, you don't even have to pay anything up front. It's not the generic Ambien, it's their new version, but maybe if you ask your doctor to try this free 7-day sample and it works well you could use that as a jumping off point to get him to switch you to generic Ambien.

Hi spence. I also take Ambien and my Therapist is VERY strict (and so is my Pharmacist) about waiting 30 days to fill the Ambien because they both tell me it is a Controlled Substance and it is addicting. People abuse it to get high. Your Dr is probably worried about addiction potential. This is just my opinion.
Good luck & let us know what he decides to do...................KK
