Anyone got a lead on when they will be rolling out a generic to Suboxone? I believe I read somewhere that Reckitt-B(?) will lose their exclusive patent on the drug in OCT/2009. I'm also sure it takes atleast 3-6 months for the drug companies to work out the legal aspects to produce a generic.

As far as I know there are no generics available for Suboxone, but I have heard the patent expires soon as well. I have a meeting today with a Sub Certified doctor and I will try and find out.

One good piece of news Ive heard is that Reckitt Benkiser has also been denied any extensions that drug manufacturers normally get. Companies can usually get like an extra 17 months or so if I remember correctly.

If it takes 3 to 6 months to

If it takes 3 to 6 months to work out all the legal-eeze-mumbo-jumbo you would think the generic manufacturers would have the ball rolling sooner because of that fact!

Another issue I have heard about is the method of delivery, being dissolved under the tongue! It's a difficult method to work out and some of the manufcturers are running into issues with their formulations. I imagine coming up with something that works right and is consistent can be a pain in the barnikle.
