is there anything different with a 10 oc and a 10 percocet, other than the acetaminophen and the time release?
Let me clarify the two for you- from what I am understanding, both of the pills you asked about were oxycodone. One is an extended release (time release) 10mg oxycodone, or oxycontin. The other is an immediate release 10mg oxycodone, often with 325mg of acetaminophen.
As you stated, the only difference between these are that one is ER and one is IR, and one has no acetaminophen and the other does, respectively. Of course, you must consider that they cannot be substituted for each other b/c they are prescribed for different reasons and release different amounts of medicine into your body at various times.
I'm a social worker, not a medical professional. All comments and thoughts are simply my opinion and experience.
The 10 mg oxy will have an immediate release effect, usually in 20-30 minutes and may last 3-4 hours. The oc will be an extended release and will probably last at least 10-12 hours. I'm basing that on the fact that an 80 oc lasted me a day and a half one time. Hope this helps.
