So Many Drugs

There are so many drugs yet so few shapes and colors available that there are bound to be similar looking pills!

Look at all the 500 mg acetaminophen tablets - most are oblong and white and quite large.  These mimic many hydrocodone/APAP combos except that most acetaminophen tablets aren't scored.  But people invariably find an OTC APAP pill and assume it's Vicodin or a generic just because of the shape and color.  Same with many antihistamine combination pills.

And look at OTC naproxen - it's usually small, oval and blue.  So people assume it's a 1 mg Xanax!

Keeps life interesting and keeps us busy.

Very astute of you. Now you

Very astute of you. Now you know why we say that the imprint is VERY important for identifying pills and why we generally do not identify a pill without it.
