Hi Cats,

Thanks for the nice image.  I appreciate your uploading it for MunkeyJuice69.

Robotussin Cough Gel

I think the logo is an 'I' superimposed over a 'G' but I'm not sure.   See this image that edhead2 uploaded some time ago:

IG 011?

http://www.pharmer.org/images/contrib/ig-011

The logo looks the same to me but the manufacturer is a mystery.  At first I thought it might be InvaGen but there is nothing indicating the company makes OTCs.  And we are pretty confident the IG 011 is an OTC stool softener or cough/cold thing.

Do you think the logos are the same?  And do you have any ideas who the manufacturer could be?

Thanks.Smile

IG Logo

Nice image! Surly it's the same logo. I was under the assumption it was name brand Robitussin Cough Gel Cap which is made by Wyeth, but the logo begs to differ, this is the first time I've seen this logo, I couldn't tell what it was from MunkeyJuice's image, so I'll keep an eye out for it.

Thanks, Cats

CVS - "Product of Canada"

The CVS Brand DM capsules I just bought also have this "I over G" 033 imprint, and the bottle says "Product of Canada" on it. No manufacturer listed. Who is the mystery maker of these things?

Another example, courtesy of my son's pocket

I found about a dozen of these in my son's pocket:

After some cross-examining, he says they are a store brand of Robotussin (dextromethorphan), but after reading about "robos" I'm more worried about what else might be in there; some of these "cough remedies" have other ingredients such as acetominophin which are actually far more dangerous when taken in quantity that the DXM itself.

Any other thoughts about what exactly this is?

The red gelcaps are usually

The red gelcaps are usually only DXM, no other pharmaceutical additives.  The biggest danger in taking DXM-only capsules isn't due to any additive, but the fact that it's in hydrobromide form - bromide poisoning is very unpleasant from what I hear.  It's the Coricidin and the syrups that cause most of the ill effects and dangers for those dumb enough to abuse this drug.  I just got over a bad sinus infection / cold, and I took 2 of these per night for a week and they helped me get to sleep and stopped the cough.

InvaGen ??

Perhaps these are produced by InvaGen Pharm http://www.invagen.com/

Also, I don't think the bromide is an issue.  With DXM overdose it's the DXM that causes the problem, not the bromine.  DXM is safe when used appropriately, it's only when massive doses are utilized that there is a serious problem.
