Thanks
thanks for the clarification.
i have heard mixed results; some say that they work exactly the same while others say that there is a world of difference. probably the best thing to do is to just give it a shot and see how it works out for you.
as for the story concerning the allergic reaction to the tape of fent patches.... i have heard of that quite often. someone on maybe this board or another board had found a good solution/way around that issue. i will see if i can dig up that post for you.

The length of time a drug works has several factors. One is the formulation of the pill itself that is what gives ER/XR medication the long action. Oxycontin is Oxycodone with waxes and silicas that slow the metalization in to body. Same with other ER/XR pills.
Fentanyl does not absorb well in the stomach it is best taken via I.V. mucous membranes in the mouth, or trans dermal. If Duragesic worked well for you and the only problem was the silicone which by the way most cases it is not the silicone that causes the allergic reaction it is the adhesives that hold it to your skin. You could try the Aqtic x*#&ers. If these drugs you were just prescribed are working it is best to stay with them. Talk to you Doctor about the different options.
