and has the number 2 on the other side.
any ideas?
wow that was fast and thats the exact pill, ty so much!!
oh and 1 more question
is this pill stronger or weaker than a 10mg oxycontin?
As I was talking of earlier, the woman I know who goes to the doc that throws meds around like candy.. she was prescribed to hydromorphone (the pill you have..) for a few months.. and as I recall her saying they seemed to be triple the strength of her 60 mg Morphinecapsules, and she said they were much stronger than oxycontin or oxycodone. But, this is just word of mouth, scientifiically it proves nothing. I will tell you one thing, though.. this woman knows her pills, and I trust her judgement.
However, I have no idea what milligram oxycontin she was talking about, but she is prescribed to 5mg instant release oxycodone, and she seemed to think that the hydromorphone blew those outta the water.. but like I said this is just word of mouth, which proves absolutely nothing. Just thought I'd give you as much info as I could..hope it helps.
so Dilaudid is aka hydromorphone?
Okay okay so here, if this helps at all
"Hydromorphone is often sought after by opiate drug abusers as it is one of the most potent of all prescription narcotics, when taken parenterally.'' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydromorphone)
"Its takes effect within 15 minutes and provides relief for more than 5 hours. It is reckoned to be eight times more potent per milligram than morphine." (http://www.rsdalert.co.uk/drugs/Dilaudid.htm)
...doesn't say about oxy, but yeah sounds pretty #%^*! potent to me.
lol nevermind i found it is.
I do believe hydromorphone is the generic for Dilaudid..
The Brand names are Dilaudid, Dilaudid-5, Hydrostat IR, Palladone
Thanks so much for yur time/research on this girl!!!!!
No problem.. I'm at work and we're slower than slow today so.. my pleasure.

dilaudid(hydromorphone) is approx 2.5x stronger than Oxy. so 2 mg dilaudid is roughly equivalent to 5 mg of Oxy.
I checked here:
Hydromorphone is probably 15-20 times stronger than morphine, equivalating one percocet to hydromorphone is rediculous, you very well could be responsible for overdose. I'd say it's more like 25mg oxycodone.
Actually when taken orally hydromorphone is not as strong at all compared to using it IV. According to my chart 2mg dilaudid is equal to 5-6mg immediate release oxycodone. Its hard to compare an extended release med like oxycontin with an immediate release med such as dilaudid. Since the oxycontin is extended release yet technically almost double potency the dilaudid might feel somewhat close to that but wont last the time the oxycontin would.
15 to 20 times? That's a bit of a stretch... Ash was correct. It's about 2.5 times stronger, in pill form, than Oxy. When I had my back surgery in June, they had me on Hydromorphone, and it gave me the hickups really badly, but it did help with the pain a great deal. This same medication in the thread is what I am taking now, and 4 tablets are approximately equal to 2 tablets of Oxycodone at 5mg, or 2 Hydrocodone at 10mg. They do work much quicker, which is really good. Waiting an hour for the other medication to start working is a pain, when the dosage only lasts around 4 hours.

from an earlier post by kirby.
if the pill looks like this then it is....
