I found a bottle of pills in my sons room...... needless to say I am a bit upset. They are White, round, one side is imprinted with 790, and the other side has GG on it. Can anyone please tell me what this is? He will not.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
why would he be taking this? what would it do to him?
Thank you for your help with htis matter.
we can only speckulate why he may be taking this medication.
the only way to truly know is to ask your son, which would be my advice.
as tuna stated, this is a CII stimulant that is used to treat ADD and ADHD. it is sometimes abused. it is a mixture of 4 different amphetamine salts.

Is the mix of 4 amphetamine salts. Ritalin is much weaker than amphetamines, somewhere between caffeine and a big dog chasing you. He probably hopes for better grades. Or as the GG implies, attracting goodlooking girls.
I have been on both ritalin and adderall, for adult add. Properly taken, its a safe drug.
I've taken 60 mg. a day, (legally prescribed) of adderall for years. I don't come home and beat my wife or kick my dog. Before it was prescribed I smoked a pack plus per day, and used the only available to me, and I think much worse stimulant, cocaine, just trying to reach an equalibrim(sp). Unmedicated add kids will do crazy things trying to feel normal.
I used to ride a motorcycle I swear if it came with optional wings could have been an ultralight. But if I felt wired or tense a short trip at 125 mph would relax me like a few beers do most people. Oh, and I don't drink. I was a designated driver long before the term was coined. Usually not on the bike.

what in the world are you talking about?

A kid w/h pills 10% of his school takes. They are no big deal. And that ritalin is not a 4 way mix of d,l amphetamine, as first told. And kids who need these meds will engage in dangerous and risky behavior, if a parent keeps them from them. Read "Driven to Distraction", and "A Manual of Drug Primer". Don't watch old Dragnets.
Ritalin should never be dismissed as a drug that is "no big deal". Even when prescribed for legitimate reasons, there are always critics on both sides of the fence arguing for and against the drug.
One group says it's overprescribed, another group says it's a Godsend. However; neither group will tell you that it is a "no big deal" type of drug. It is a CII medication. If it were no big deal, the FDA would not feel the need to schedule this drug.
Also, kids that need this drug and do not get this drug are not necessarily going to engage in dangerous activities. Just because somebody does something inexplicable does not mean that the meds, or lack thereof, are to blame.
I am not trying to sound condescending, but I had trouble following your post as well. I'm not sure that this did anything to clear it up either, my friend. What does w/h stand for?

If it is Ritalin, it should be explained the effects. On someone who has ADD, Ritalin has a calming effect on them, keeping them from basically being hyperactive. Those who do not have ADD, Ritalin has an opposite effect. For them Ritalin makes them more active, almost like a different kind of "high" for them. This "high" may only give them extra energy, or give them an adrenaline high.
I understood where the other person said its nothing to worry about- as in it is not considered a highly desirable street drug. That said, it is something you should worry about if your kid got ahold of someone else's prescription because if he has that then you don't know what else he may be getting ahold of and taking. Just like marijuana is considered a gateway drug to more harsh drugs like cocaine, this may be a gateway drug to other prescription pills that are sold on the street that are narcotics. The young generation now is considered an Rx generation where the drug of choice is usually pills.
Even if your child won't talk to you about it, make sure you are keeping a close eye on his activities and friends.

If yes, then it's Methylphenidate (Ritalin) a stimulant type drug used to treat ADHD.
