What's the difference between oxycodone and oxycontin?

I've been prescribed oxycodone (very little white round tablets) by my doctor for severe back pain. They do not seem to work as well as percocet. I was told that oxycodone is percocet without the Tylenol. If that is true, it seem they would work better or be stronger.

Percocet contains Oxycodone

Percocet contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen (tylenol).  Acetaminophen is added to enhance pain relief. Straight Oxycodone might not work as well in some as in others.

Your question asks the difference between Oxycodone and OxyContin. OxyContin is Oxycodone in a time release form and is also available in higher doses.
