white oblong pill. 8I or I8 on one side blank on the other. please help identify. thank you.
I am wondering what this pill is too. It seems to be a pressed long oval pill, kind of like this in size ---> (_______) . It is solid white, maybe a coat is around it. It has impressed into the pill or I8 or 8I pending on how you are holding the pill. It's the letter i and then an 8. The I has ridges on the top and bottom unlike this font.
What on earth is it???
Thanks.
yes it is a pressed white pill with a white coating on it. the imprint is I8 or 8I.
there is no score mark and the pill is blank on the other side. about the size of a 7.5 vicodan.
Thanks for clarifying that the pill is a tablet and the imprint is "I" (as the first letter in Italy and not "L" as the first letter in Love or the numeral "1").
I can't find anything for I8.
But one US database does list a white oblong unscored tablet imprinted IB as 200 mg ibuprofen.
Is it possible your tablet is not from the United States?
possibly. it has an "over the counter" look to it. the imprints aren't pressed as precise as somthing you would expect from prescription quality. probably foreign or otc.
Anyone ever confirm this one?
I got one of these in a case today and so far I can't find anything on it.
Sorry about the poor image quality, it is blood-stained and badly eroded.
My gut reaction is possibly an 800mg Ibuprofen since there are several 200mg Ibuprofen imprinted "I2".
I don't know if I'll actually analyze it as there are plenty of more important items in the case, and our current backlog doesn't allow much room for indulging our curiousity.

4N6, thanks for the image.
That looks like an uppercase "I" to me and not the number "1". And the other character looks more like the number "8" than an uppercase letter "B". All I could find in the databases was the IB (letters) imprint mentioned in my previous post.
Your 'gut reaction' of 800 mg ibuprofen sounds perfectly plausible to me, especially given the size of the tablet.
That pill is way too big to be the "IB" ibuprofen 200 mg discussed earlier.

4N6, your gut reaction is correct and is now confirmed by DrugId.Info. The tablet imprinted I8 is 800 mg ibuprofen made by Dr. Reddy's Labs.
Great guesstimate!
Thanks.
Thanks for the confirmation!
Well, I blew that one.
The actual imprint is 8I, not I8. My source has both listed but I failed to see the 8I reference.
Dr. Reddy's imprints are:
Ibuprofen:
- 400 mg - 4I
- 600 mg - 6I
- 800 mg - 8I
Oh well. Thanks for trying.
I'm sure another one will turn up that I will get to analyze.

You don't need to analyze the pill. 8I (uppercase letter I as in Ibuprofen) is 800 mg ibuprofen as you thought.
I was wrong because I thought the imprint was I8 (the letter preceding the number), the same orientation as your image.
Hope this makes sense!
j/k
D'oh!
Naproxen maybe?
My dad takes these, and I know he has a prescrip for Naproxen.
as..posted above by others
8I (uppercase letter I as in Ibuprofen) is 800 mg ibuprofen
white oblong pill with I 8 on it is an ibuprofen 800mg according to my friend who is a pharmacist with CVS

We need a little clarification please.
By "white oblong pill" do you mean a pressed tablet or a capsule?
Thanks.
