Your daughter is actually lucky to be getting Lorcet, a lot of Doctors dont even believe its a real condition other than a mental disorder. Have her doctors tred her on Lyrica? It is currently the only FDA approved medication for Fibromyalgia treatment and when mixed with a narcotic such as Hydrocodone (Lorcet), I have heard many success stories attributed to the combo. Prialt is the name brand of Ziconotide which is a synthetic equivalent to the Cone Snail peptide (venom). It appears not to be a controlled substance so the risk or dependancy must be very low, unlike morphine which I have seen it being refered to as 1000x's as strong. I think when comparing the two people must actually mean pain killing ability without any euphoria. Another down side is that it is only administered via a "pain pump". The prescribing info says for use only in MedTronic SynchroMed EL, SynchroMed II Infusion and Cadd-Micro Infusion. |
