Hello ppl,

Ny daughter suffers so much everday with her fibroyalgia.I have been doing some reading and there seems to be a drug put there called Ziconitide. It is injected into the spine and is said to be better than morphine.

The many doctors she has seen only give lorecet.

We fear she may be on her way to a wheel chair.

Thanks to anyone who may know if this drug Ziconitide is approved by the FDA?

Thanks ro all who may read rgis

If she needs a wheelchair

If she needs a wheelchair because of her illness, her illness cannot be fibromyalgia.

Your daughter is actually

Your daughter is actually lucky to be getting Lorcet, a lot of Doctors dont even believe its a real condition other than a mental disorder. Have her doctors tred her on Lyrica? It is currently the only FDA approved medication for Fibromyalgia treatment and when mixed with a narcotic such as Hydrocodone (Lorcet), I have heard many success stories attributed to the combo.

Prialt is the name brand of Ziconotide which is a synthetic equivalent to the Cone Snail peptide (venom). It appears not to be a controlled substance so the risk or dependancy must be very low, unlike morphine which I have seen it being refered to as 1000x's as strong. I think when comparing the two people must actually mean pain killing ability without any euphoria. Another down side is that it is only administered via a "pain pump". The prescribing info says for use only in MedTronic SynchroMed EL, SynchroMed II Infusion and Cadd-Micro Infusion.
