New mg of OxycontinWhen will the new milligrams of oxycontin name brand be available my Dr. wrote me a script for 30mg but I couldn't have them filled but this site says purdue makes them? any one have an answer for me? ( categories: Discussion of Prescription and OTC Meds )

According to the FDA the "new" and the 160mg strengths are discontinued. I know that the FDA is sometimes behind in updating there site, so I would suggest calling Purdue Pharmas Customer Care at 800-877-5666 and tell them that because it shows the 30mg strength in there package insert your doctor wrote you for that strength and you where wondering if they are are actually available or not because you are having trouble getting them filled. Even if they are available as with most new medications your pharmacist is going to have to special order it and most likely his/her distributor is going to have to special order it. OxyContin Dosages
Hello Everyone! The new OxyContin dosages became available 1/29/08 according to Purdue Pharm. I called them to verify last month and I was told to have the pharmacist "special order" them because a lot of pharmacist are not aware of the available dosages. The new dosages are available in 15mgs, 30mgs and 60mgs. The older dosages are still available 10mgs, 20mgs, 40mgs and 80mgs. Hope this helps! FLGIRL New Oxycontin
Hello Everyone! I am posting for my first time and have been what you call a lurker for a long time. First off I want to thank everyone on this website for the information that is provided. It is very helpful to read discussions about the medications I am prescribed. Now in regards to the new Oxycontin. Are these being prescribed in the U.S or just elsewhere. Reason being is because they have been out for about a month now and no one has been able to produce any pictures of the medication or even received a script with the exception of billythekid83. I am currently RXed 90 20 mg oxys and 90 10 mg oxys a month because I require 30 mg to feel relief and 40 mg was to strong. These would eliminate a 40.00 co pay for me. Any info is helpful Thanks in Advance, Milkdud39 oc60
i posted pic of the oc60s, bad quality sorry but nobody has yet so i figured here u go. OC 60: Since nobody has posted the image yet here is a shot of a 60mg OxyContin pill with controlled release. Red. Click on the thumbnail for a larger view. (edited to insert image) I just filled a script from
I just filled a script from a hospital for 30 mg OC's on monday MAR 10th. they are Brown and about the size of the 40 mg OC's. it was at a walgreens, try there if your pharm doesn't have em. My normal walgreens didn't have them, so i had them call around for em, they are there, just got to be willing to look hard enough. took an extra hour out of my day. no need to special order. Why so many?
Interesting. I still have not seen a 15, 20, and 30mg tablet in person. I'm guessing these aren't as common as the other strengths? I just saw the 60mg tablet for the first time a month ago. What is the point of so many strengths? For example if someone needs to take two 15mg tablets why not just take one 30mg tablet. Or a 60mg tablet instead of two 30mg tablets? I find very little difference between 10mg and 15mg. I guess it's just me. The Reason For New Mgs
Hi Wushdishmeen! The new dosages of Oxycontin are 15mg, 30mg and 60mg. The point of the new dosages is because a lot of people are prescribed Oxycontin in dosages that were not available prior and a lot of people were having to pay two separate copays in order to take the dosages they were Rx'd. This can REALLY add up, especially since the generics are no longer available. For example, I am Rx'd 60mgs x 3 per day. Prior to the new dosage of 60mgs, I would have to have 40mgs x 90 AND 20mgs x 90 per month to equal my Rx. So instead to two copays, now it is one copay. Take care, FL GIRL |
