Generic OTC ZyrtecI bought generic Zyrtec over the counter today. Forty-one cents a pill. Last year I was paying a little over two dollars a pill. Hurray! Just in time for the spring allergy season. ( categories: New Medicines )
Zyrtec was my allergy
Zyrtec was my allergy medicine for many years. It worked very well. However with the introduction of opioids I found that it just made me way too drowsy. So now I am on Allegra. It does not work nearly as well as Zyrtec but it does not make me tired. I do wonder how long it will be before Allegra becomes an OTC medication. I also can't help but notice that there are more medications becoming available OTC then ever before.
Same here quahog. Zyrtec,
Same here quahog. Zyrtec, even though it is a "less-drowsy" antihistamine, knocks me out when taken with my pain meds. I've never taken the Allegra, had Allegra-D, but didnt like it due to the p-ephedrine. I take Claritin now, which works, but not as well as I would like. I have doubled up (20mg) on loratidine before (not a good idea, due to it's t1/2) and it still didnt help as much as I would like it to.
Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but has anyone ever used Thyme (herb) for allergies? I have only seen this listed in organic/holistic publications, but they claim it has antihistamine properties. I'll look around on some journal databases to see if I can find anything reputable to back this up.
All ive ever taken was
All ive ever taken was allegra D....and i have horrible allergies esp where i live in the Ohio valley, I already take Phenergan and sometimes benedryl and sudafed PRN. I need something like clariting or zyrtek, as allegra upset my stomach. which would u recommend and which is cheaper i can get docs to write scripts for whatever... I'm not a doctor, but would LOVE to play one on tv.... Ray Phenergan? Really?
- you take phenergan (promethazine) for allergies??? i take it for nausea, it does clear up nausea i know that, and it has a mild sedative effect as well, i had no idea i could take it for my allergies too... I'm no doctor, i'm just a man with intelligent opinions. -Enigmuh Anti-allergy is one of the
Anti-allergy is one of the indicated uses for promethazine. In the cough syrup Phenergan w/Codeine, the Codeine is for cough and the Promethazine is for allergies, sedation and anti-emetic. Sizzzurp, lol. Quahog, I dont know how close you are to the Canadian border but they have OTC Allegra and Allegra-D. The Allegra looks and works exactly the same except it comes in a box on a blister card. Im pretty sure it was kinda on the cheap side or I wouldnt have bought it. Deffinately less than $20 canadian for a box of 30 or 28. Phenergan
Yeah, Phenergan comes in several preperations...Including Mepergan (demerol+phenergan) Phenergan with codiene and other various cold preperations and Phenergan by itself...It is a very versatile and useful drug. I'm not a doctor, but would LOVE to play one on tv.... Ray Promethazine or Phenergan is
Promethazine or Phenergan is a wonder drug when it comes to nausea. I do have an Rx for and I even find that it works better than Fexofenadine Allegra. Another plus to Promethazine is that it works as an adjunct to increase the efficacy of pain medications. The down side is it can cause some pretty bizarre side effects.
