I have been on high doses of Oxy and Roxi for about 2 years. After seriously Dr. jumping and messing up big.  I finally got a doctor willing to treat me with something else.  He has me on Methadone 40mg 3x a day which he has been lowering little by little over the last 6 weeks. Now I'm down to 30mg 3x a day, my dr is away for the holiday (in israel) I don't have anywhere else to go for meds.... .  SOOOO I guess I'm just looking for some advice.

I took 15 mg this morning at 7am and now I just took my last 15 mg!  How bad am I going to feel does anyone live in Long Island NY and have any advice.

I can't just sleep this off my son is 3 years old and very active.

Well the 40mg Methadone had

Well the 40mg Methadone had to go down anyway I think a bill was passed allowing 40mg disket's for methadone clinics only. I sure do not know what to say is try to stick with one doctor and it might take a while until trust is built up by your doctor to any patient. This has happened because of the many doctor shoppers there are out there (not meaning anyone personally) which makes the doctors a little more careful and suspicious.  Dr Lois might have a thing or 2 to say about this I have alway wondered myself how doctors look at certain patients and how they decide who to treat or not to Hmm preety interesting. Hopefully Dr Lois will see this

Also wanted to add... my appt is now made for April 29th so if anyone has been though similar and can offer some advice let me know.

I hope to eventually find a new dr.  and or get off these meds.  Unfortuantly I am in pretty bad shape from not having my meds and I have a feeling it's going to get worse.  My hip and back sugery aren't happening until winter.  I was told going into surgery without being on meds would be best.

if your doctor is on

if your doctor is on vacation he should have another doctor covering for him. have you called the office and told them you are out of meds? it might be worth a shot.

I am also from long island

I am also from long island new york feel free to pm me. I have never went through methadone withdrawals but I heard they can be pretty bad. Your only legal choices are to go to the ER if it gets too bad and explain the situation or see another doctor and explain that your doctor is out of town and see if he can prescribe you something to hold you over or you can just put up with the withdrawals. An illegal option would be to obtain them from a friend but that is illegal and should not be done.

ms roxi..

hi ms roxi...well u said u took your last 15mgs yesterday according to your original post, i think it said around 2 something in the afternoon.  because of the amount of time methadone stays in your system, you shouldnt start feeling physical withdrawals until prob tonight or tomorrow. i am on a clinic and on 200mgs a day and i went a day without dosing and i was fine until the following morning, then i started to feel it.  from past experience i know the w/d from 'done isnt as bad as say oxys or heroin, but they last a lot longer, so like the others said, I would def try to see if there is a doc covering for yours, there has to be, that would be rediculous if he didnt leave any instructions for his patients, like to contact so and so if u need to be seen, or simply to go to the er.  though the er i doubt will give u methadone, i could be wrong.  as long as u have your bottles from your meds and any other records or proof u should be fine.  so worst case youd hafta go to the er.  im sure your doc is affiliated with a local hospital, so they should know him, and should know hes on vaca.  one thing u wont wanna do is just put up with the w/d, esp with a child to care for.  so good luck i hope someone helps u out.

Your doctor should have some

Your doctor should have some form of alternative coverage in place while he is on vaccation.  In my state I think it is even part of the State Health Code.  Doesn't he have someone covering for him?

Ok, I just read your last post.  The covering doctor cannot help you?  You would have to go to his office and see him, but are you saying if you did that he said he would not write you a script?

The other thing to do might be to find a suboxone prescriber and get on suboxone instead of the methadone.  They generally understand the need to get in right now because when people call they are already in withdrawal.  You would have to be off methadone for 24-72 hours to start suboxone.  Generally you also like to have patients on 40mg of methadone a day or less in order to start suboxone, otherwise you will still have some withdrawal symptoms, but not nearly as bad as going cold turkey.

 RoxiHeartI have been on
  •  RoxiHeart

Yes he left instructions for the doc. in NJ but he refused to write it because "it's out of state", "verycontrolled substance" "He cannot get involved"  I have an appt set for tuesday with him he's back.

I have been on here without signing up for a while now, and I have to say this whole site has been an eye opener.  This Last week has been horrible, legally I couldn't do anything to help myself.  It was my own fault that I didn't have an appt set up for before he left on vacation.

Methadone has given me a new lease on life, before I was on Oxy80mg/Roxi30mg needing to get multiple scripts from misusing and overusing my medication.  Also from my tolerance growing over time.  As for Suboxone which I call "devil pill" I was prescribed it 3 months ago by my internal medicine doc.  He told me to go home and when I started feeling uncomfortable to put one under my tongue and let it dissolve.  Which is exactly what I did, right after putting my son to sleep (thank god!)

I had an almost immediate reaction to the medicine, 104 fever, uncontrollable movements and sounds, hallucination's, I ended up thankfully being checked in by my husband who found me on the floor in my bedroom and rushed me to the ER.  When he gave them my medicine bottle to the ER doc/nurses they said to my husband that she is being treated for addiction and we cannot give her anything.   I won't go into what that did to my marriage (he didn't know anything about my meds), but they sent me to the detox unit for admin. about 4 hours later and awaiting for 6am doc to arrive they released me.  By then I actually felt like I got hit by a truck but able to walk out.  I went home took a shower and really till this day I don't know what happened to me.

But as for going back to that doctor, and paying him 500.00 cash per visit for a weekly supply of Suboxone, no thanks.  I found a doctor who introduced me to methadone and it has been a life saver.  Sorry this was so long.  I am thinking of posting a new "Post" about my experience/reaction to that medicine.  I just don't tell anyone I am on it!  I say I'm on treatment medicine, to concerned persons.
