Pharmacy Guard Dogs?My pharmacy starting using a trained german shepard police dog overnight at the shop..it is a small place. He pays 600 a month or 20 a night for this..anyone else hear of something like this? I think its stupid...I thought they have insurance for break-ins...I live in clearwater fl... You would think that the amount of money spent in just a year($7200), the Pharmacist would just buy an extremely nice safe/vault seeing that all CII are suppose to be kept under lock and key anyhow. He/she could even get two safes, one for use while on duty and the other more high tech one for night time storage. From what Ive heard from Pharmacist's that have had break in's the thiefs usually only get meds that are CIII or CIV anyway (because of them keeping the CII locked up and out of plain site), which arent that expensive for the pharmacy to replace even though they charge a boat load for them. As for the insurance, theres always going to be a deductable. However the business itself can write off the loss at the end of the year at tax time. That's a little overkill on
That's a little overkill on the security I think. I mean it's a good deterent for thieves, but I guess if they guy feels he needs it.......Tell him I"ll watch his pharmacy overnight for him...LOL, and i don't charge as much... its a medicine shoppe..by hungry howies on east bay between lake and highland....i told him in not so many words that it was a dumb idea...he argued...never been broke in, but there is a pharmacy robbery a couple times a month here...i also live in larghetto. I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
the dog is off limits
the dog is off limits around the drug area...since the fellow opened shop 3 years ago he has had nothing but sucess..still though the police headquarters are less then a minute away so i will see how long he uses it. I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
Guard dog
For those familiar with Portland, several years ago, when I lived there, I got my scripts filled at Menlo Park Pharmacy at 122nd and NE Glisan St. This is right across the street from the Multnomah Co. Sherrif's Department Offices. One night thieves tied a chain to the front doors and the other end to their truck and were inside in a matter of seconds. They cleaned the place out and were gone before the deputies even made it across the street. I think a dog might have helped out in this situation.
True story!
It's a true story, I swear. I was going in there so long and often, I knew the owners/pharmacists by name and they mine. They were closed on Sunday in those days, but I had an emergency on weekend and I called one of the two owners at home and he came in and made up a refill for me.
I take your word
I take your word Director...he is afraid of the same thing...you can drive right into the building..glass breaks easy...i still don't know why he is so scared...insurance? he is also sure a dog will be a big help...i do hope he wasn't there when i banged on the glass....flyer i stay up late always...and am pretty well known to LE... I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
