I currently am on Oxycodone ER 3x daily and oxycodone 90mg or as needed for my b/t pain. Last week when at my doctor's I mentioned that the b/t pain med's were working poorly and I did not want a higher dose of Oxycodone IR's She mentioned to take some time and research different medications for the b/t. and she will gladly listen the next visit but what she decides is final or I keep the same b/t med's.She likes to get patients involved in the pain medications that are taken if they care to. She does not prescribe methadone or demerol and it has to be oral. Anything with tylenol, asprin, or Ibuprofen or any type of OC mixed with a narcotic I cannot take. Not having a PDR I will visit the library this coming week. I was thinking hydromorphone, morphine IR, levorphanol ,which I know very little about(this coming from memory)for the b/t but what would be the equivelant to 90mg oxycodone IR's What I do not understand is there are different mg/s for chronic and acute pain. Any help would be appreciative. Thank you.

I would go for the diluadid

I would go for the diluadid (hydromorphone) I went on a trial period with the dilaudid in place of the 30mg Roxi. It a bit better at killing the pain the the roxi but I switched back because if I ran out of hydromorphone I suffered badly from withdraws.

It funny because your doc wont Rx methadone but will Rx Oxycontin, I say this is funny because my doc is the opposite. He will Rx Methadone for long acting but wont Rx oxycontin even tho I am already on Oxy IR. weird......
