What kind of effects would be caused by mixing hydrocodone and butalbital? Butalbital is a barbituate right?

Yeah, that doesnt seem
Yeah, that doesnt seem excessive by any means. If you are just starting the combo you may be drowsy for a few days while your body adjusts, but it will pass if you are consistent with the dosages and not forgetting to take one or the other for a few day, or taking higher doses than normal.
Are you prescribed the Fioret or similar headache med? I believe the ASA/But/Caff, or APAP/But./Caff are the only preparations containing Butalbital. I have always wanted to try it, but I dont respond well to caffeine, or any xanthines for that matter.
Increased sedation, and possibly respiratory depression if you have a low tolerance for either, or are taking high doses.
Butalbital is a barbiturate, albeit the weakest (qualitative), but it can still be dangerous when mixed with a narcotic, or in high doses. One of the most dangerous drug interactions is between barbs and opiods.
If this is a combo rx'd by your doctor, it should be fine. But if not, I would be very careful, especially if you are taking moderate-high doses of hydrocodone.
In low doses of each (5-10mg of hydrocodone, and 25-75mg butalbital) the use would not be contraindicated.
Is this from a doctor? How much of each are you talking about?
