CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CLEAR THIS UP FOR ME???????Ok i'm having a sort of debate here with a friend of mine: Can someone please just tell me what the difference is between hydrocodone and oxycodone? I kno hydros usually consist of vicodins, lorcets etc. , and oxycodones consist of percocets, endocets etc. So what is the actual difference between both classes of narcotics???? I mean i kno all come in different mgs with different mg's of aceteminiphen, but isn't oxcodone usually stronger than hydros? (edited) ( categories: Discussion of Prescription and OTC Meds )
Oxycodone is a Schedule II
Oxycodone is a Schedule II controlled substance and Hydrocodone is a Schedule III controlled substance. CII has the highest addiction and abuse potential of the controlled substances that are allowed to be had on prescription. CIII has a slightly lower risk for abuse and addiction. Mg for Mg Oxycodone is about 1.5x as strong as Hydrocodone. So 5mg of Oxycodone is equal to 7.5mg Hydrocodone. I just wanted to clear
I just wanted to clear something up about the scheduling solo posted. Oxycodone is a schedule two as statedbut as far as hydrocodone goes it is schedule three only in the known mass produced formulas containing apap (highest of which is 10/325). If there was no apap or more than 15mg of hydrocodone which can be prescribed and compounded then it would be considered a schedule two. |
