Alternatives to methadone?

I have been with my pain mgmt. dr. for 6 1/2 years and this past year they have convinced me to take methadone when the hydrocodone stopped being effective. Now I definatly want off of the methadone but I still need an "extended release" painkiller to take its place. Any ideas on alternative medication that is just as effective as methadone??

 Kadian works well for

 Kadian works well for me...you need good insurance though its a bit pricey...ms contin is cheap.....ok obscure gurl?Wink

Actually, I am glad you say that. That is actually the medication that I have been researching. I just hope my dr. won't think I'm being too forward if I just go asking for morphine. :)

 i was with the same dr and

 i was with the same dr and on the same dose of percocets for about 6 years...then he switched me to kadian due to increased problems...he might have kept me on the same oxy dose forever if not for that...he had been needle happy for a couple years...beware of needles around the spinal cord please. take care

Oxy...geez,

So I had a long talk with my doctor....he decided that he wants me to give Oxy Cotin a try, at least for a month. He also wants me to continue one 5mg methadone at bedtime AND he increased my percocet's mg. Personally I think it seems all a little much, and I did voice this opinion to my dr. but he felt this would be my best alternative.

Hhhuummpphhh...pills....Pills....PILLS!!! I'm so sick of them!
