Ethex Oxycodone HCII was looking on the Ethex website and found that they now have oxycodone hcl in 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 20mg and 30mg strenths, that is great news for those who use it for breakthru meds, now you dont have to jump from 5 to 15 to 30mg. I have attached a link to their site.. http://www.ethex.com/oxy_portal/hcp/hcp_landing.aspx
Well just thougt it may interest someone

Indeed, Ethex now has a complete line of IR Oxycodone formulations 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 mg. They are all generically priced medications. For the new 10 and 20 mg formulations that Ethex has recently released, patient sample vouchers are available with a valid prescription. Although, ones doctor must present you with the voucher and prescription before you can claim the free tablets. Ethex is offering 12 tablets for free I believe. ethex oxycodone
I also agree that the generic ethex oxycodone (in 5mg strength anyway, have not tried their 15s or 30s) is garbage, and the mallinckrodt is not much better. I prefer the amide generic for my rx of #180 15mg oxy IR a month. This is good news however because I am rx'd to take 1-2 15mg tablets TID PRN b/t pain. Many times, 1 is not enough, but I feel 2 is going overboard and instead have to take one and break a 15 in half on top of it instead of taking the full 30 mg. (not an easy task w/o a pill splitter or on the go.) I have been doing this more often than not recently and as the base 15mg seems to not be effective most of the time now, so I have gone to 22.5mg instead of the full 2 tabs (30mg) prescribed if needed. It would be great to get a trial of the 20mg tabs and see if they are effective, therefore keeping my tolerance down instead of jumpiong to 30mg. I have an appt. w/ my doc on tomorrow and was going to ask to go to 90 30mg tabs a month over the 180 15mg tabs currently rxd. I would love to be able to go to 20mg and try that first. I clicked on the link on ethex's website and saw the free trial section but only my dr. can order the free trial slips andI doubt if hes heard of the new strengths yet (he didnt even know about the 15s, and 30mg's until I told him they were available) I'm hoping they are relatively quick and easy for him to obtain because nothing is better than not having to pay for my meds (no rx coverage on my ins.) and I'd really like to give 20mg a shot (as long as they are more effective than ethex 5mg oxy product, which was basically worthless, at least in my body) before going to 30. We'll see what happens when I bring it up at our appt. tomorrow. I'll keep the board updated so you all know how this is being perceived in the medical community. Thanks to the O.P. for this great news! PDX Edit: I'd imagine that mallinckrodt/tyco and amide will start mfg. these new strengths as well once they gain popularity. Althought there are several mfg. that only make the 5mg IR tablets and never bothered to make 15s or 30mg's. (Purdue comes to mind with their 5mg Oxy IR or endo with their 5mg percolone) I also am RX's 180 mg of
I also am RX's 180 mg of 15mg oxycodone's. I also take the Amide brand but I have in the past used the ethex brand and it works just fine for me. I just wonder why some generic brand works for some people and does not work for others. When generics are allowed on the market I am assuming there is no clinical trial but has to have the same active ingredient, in this case oxycodone which the FDA I am sure tests It is then up to the manufacturer to make sure it stays that way. I think filler's and dyes can be different but I am relying on something I read many years ago |
