There is no maximum doseage
Actually there is a limit of
Actually there is a limit of the APAP (tylenol) componentof 4000mg (4g) per day. Thereafter, liver problems can ensue, hence, there are lower dosage hydrocodone formulation such as Norco 10/325, Xodol 10/300, then special prescription for compounding pharmacies that can specially formulate 15/80 for special cases. If you are on 10/500, then do not consume more than 8 pills per day. Request Norco from your doctor and express your concern for your liver and the tylenol content. Xodol is not on generic and is expensive. Compounding formulations are very expensive and most doctors do not write those scripts. Special compounding pharmacies must be visited in order to obtain these specific formulations that are not mass produced by pharmaceutical companies. For long-term usage, 3000-3500mg of tylenol is recommended I have read if continued consistent usage of higher level tylenol is used. Liver damage can occur from the tylenol. Without getting too deep into metabolism and enzymes, certain metabolic pathways can be inhibited, thereby leading to liver complications. Alternatives can be used, Vicoprofen (7.5/200mg of ibuprofen) or oxycodone (roxidone), morphine, dilaudid (hydromorphone), demerol (meperidine). Though all except Vicoprofen are CII and more dependent on the extent of your condition. |
