Duration of generic oxycontin

Would like to know whether oxycontin lasts 12 hours as claimed or 8 hours? Some friends I know are directed by their doc to take it 3 times a day while I am told every 12 hours.What are the actual facts ? T hanks for any help.

I guess it all depends on

I guess it all depends on the person. When I was taking the Oxy 40's, I took them 3 times a day but I started out taking them 2 times a day.
