I have been taking hydrocodone now for about 3 years, for my back... for the last two years I have been getting them from the doctor.. the problem is I take too many. . and they run out around a third way thru my script . . and they are redily available in my area (not from doctor) altho very expensive! so I get more.... 40 a day after script is thru...I am used to withdrawls as I dont have money everytime to keep meds all month! My wife is well aware of all of this and I am sure it is taking its toll on our relationship! I have a three year old son who lives with me who Is the light of my eye...I have a 3 yo little girl (lives with her momma) 10 year old son (lives with his momma) anyhow I really dont like laying around in pain or laying around in wd .....around my kiddos... and on my initial visit to my dr I told him I have been taking 4-11 hydrocodones a day so what does he do??? he gives them to me... I have tried and tried to stretch em out as long as I can each month but...always run out and either spend all my money....or wd ..or both!! I have quit several times over the last three years... and when the phisical wd.s are over (I know pain seems worse during wd) it hurts to work and when I get off of work I cant cook clean and play with my son.(yes I do all of these my wife has a demanding job)..I just wanna lay down cause my back is Killing me... yes it seems suboxone is for me but am afraid gonna get to pharm and they are gonna say 200-300 a month..I have insurance and would have to pay 25% of brand names.... yea it seems I spend that much from street pharmacy but not in one lump sum...I do side contracting jobs for 50 here 20 there as I am a maintenance person- ac man-plumber-pool man-handyman .... so 200-300 would mean I wouldnt pay a car payment or electric bill ...
I was wondering If anyone has any suggestions ...before my child support goes up from 1200 a month to 1800 a month and I loose two people who mean the world to me!

not many
I am only given 90 a month and I probly take 20mg every four hours in reality.. so I take 300 a month and that is an unrealistic request to my doc imho

IMO maybe your doctor can RX
IMO maybe your doctor can RX hydrocodone 10/350 which might work better for you, but it really has to do with your doctor.If your doctor seems to be concerened about your pain you might want to ask him if hydro's do not work for some patients what would be the next step.I am sure he will answer that but might not be ready yet to prescibe anything stronger. This seems to be a problem with so many in this forum and like I said it mostly has to do with your doctor.

YOUR DR MAY OR MAY NOR BE WILLING TO GIVE YOU A STRONGER. I TOOK HYDRO FOR AWHILE UNTIL IT DIDNT DO ANYTHING BUT MAKE ME SICK..I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND BAD NECK PROBLEMS. I AM CURRENTLY TAKING 60MG OF METHADONE,30MG OF MORPHINE,700MG OF SOMA AND OTHER ANXIETY MEDS..AND TO BE HONEST, I STAY IN ALOT OF PAIN AFTER ALL THOSE MEDS. TAKE 8 MEDS IN ALL AND W/O MY PAIN MEDS I COULDNT GO ON, SO I KNOW WHAT YOURE GOING TROUGH..TALK TO YOUR DR, IF HE IS WILLING TO LISTEN. CAUSE OBVIOUSLY YOURE IN A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN.. BEST WISHES MAN..

Your situation sounds
Your situation sounds familiar, I know so many people go through this every month when their prescribed medication is not enough. The best I can see is to tell your doc that what you are getting is not enough to help with the pain. Tell the doc you take your meds but are still in pain every time. I know you feel like you already get a lot, but with hydrocodone, you are not anywhere near the limit.
I'm not sure if you told us the mg your pills are, I know you said you get 90/month whatever they are. Are you taking the 10/325 Norco yet? This is the strongest hydro with the least amount of tylenol, which is what you should take. I'm sure you know that 4000mg is the max recommended amount of tylenol per day, therefore with the 10/325 you could get up to 12 per day. Again, that is the max and I am not sure you need that much, but it is good to know how high you can go. You should definitely talk to you doc about this, and make sure you emphasize that what you are taking is not enough for your pain since that is the whole reason you are getting them.

yes am taking norcos and the amount I take has less to do with pain and more to do with addiction issues, I have an appointment with methadone clinic for mon 5am...will tell all yall how that goes

I think you made the right
I think you made the right decision by making the appointment at the methadone clinic. If going there daily doesn't work out perhaps try suboxone. Since you said this has more to do with addiction than pain I would not go to the doctor and ask for more pills or higher strength opiates because that will do nothing but make the situation worse....let us know how you do at the clinic.

first of all you should pray cause you have too be in control of what you do and i know what you are talking about second you are going too cut the pills in half and take it that way and give your liver a break from the apap in it and drink lot of water and start walking even if it hurts do it and try it slow and then work your way up and let me know how you are doing ok? my genie

I walk over 4 miles a day, I am a service manager at a 320 unit apt community I am very phisical at work lifting ac units and appliances and I know i shouldnt still be doing what I do but I have to do what I do to support my family. . . I have looked its hard to match my 50K without alot of school. .

Hope the methadone works for you. If not, Suboxone is about $160-300 per month depending on your dosage, but it is covered by insurance, although it may require prior authoriation. Many pharmacies will also let you split up a script, and buy them say a week at a time.

I feel like I have been released from jail or something...I have energy... I have no cravings.. six and a half hours ago my life...and my familys life has changed forever....thanks for being here to listen and advice ...to all of my (pharmers)

went to methadone clinic
I went to methadone clinic and got started on methadone maintenance . for addiction...and my plans are to get balanced out mentaly....see where my pain level is, in a few months!! so far have had two doses and is has lowered my pain to tolerable, without cravings till about 12 hours into dose.. I feel like a new person..

Is there any way you can make another appt with your doc and tell him about this and maybe he could change your meds or up the amount he gives you a month? If he refuses, time to find another doc. What mg of Hydro do you get each month? How many do you take each day? If you choose not to answer, I understand.
