THANKS....FLORIDA DEE
In Colorado where I live there is no problem with getting Oxycodoe Ir's med's I got mine about 2 weeks ago but they did not have the 15's so they gave me the 30's and said to cut them in half. I have read nothing about it anywhere. Even in my town (110,000 people) there are only 2 pharmacy chains that have them. I cannot say which one's for this forum call's it spam. I am guessing that it is not a common type medicine that dr's prescribe. I cannot think of another reason, I did check the products of Ethex and Mallincrofdt's and they both still had them as being manufactured. If they were to be discontinued I think this forum would be one of the quickest to know
see... My friend is a pharmacy tech, says " For over a month no pharmacys down here have recived any shipments. They order for it, and it doesn't show up in the next order.. It says its on back order, which means... There are none in the warehouse and the warehouse orders from the Distributer and they don't have any to send either! " everyone is wipped out and have nothing to replace it with.....
Well iirc you are the second person from florida complaining of no roxicodone. The distributer in your area is probably out and has them on backorder thats why the pharmacies are dry. If they were pulled we would probably be the first to know and i know someone who got a script filled less than a week ago so maybe this problem is centralized in florida.
I think so to... I got my script last month with no problem... then this month I go to the same place and many other and its dry well.. I don't think they pulled them.. JUST worried that next month when its time to get my 150 blues... there not going to be there.... and i didn't know thre were so many kinds!!! I've only gotten the blue 215 thats it! Even yesterday...... I dried out that pharmacy but #%^*!! They are suppose to have like 6 bottles of 1000 at all times!!!!!
Hi Everyone!
This is what I posted on another thread regarding the problems with Roxicodone!
Take Care,
FLGIRL
There is a BIG problem regarding the Amide generic, which is now causing a shortage of the Mallencrodts and Ethex.
Here is a quote from what I was told:
I have researched the who Activias thing due to everyone freaking out. I have talked to lots of doctors, pharmacists, people in the pharmaceutical industry, and this is what is going on. The DEA and the FDA opened an investigation due to the sheer number of overdoses and illegal activity concerning the Roxicodone medication. In this investigation, Activias accounted for 80% of pills seized in illegal dealings "busts". They contacted Activias which is based in Iceland. Blah Blah Blah...When their research of abusability was concluded they found that the Activias brand was the easiest abusable form of Oxycodone HCL. In finding this, they were halted from producing their product with the stipulation that when a less abusable form of the drug was "invented" then they could resume production.
Basically what I have been trying to let people know for nearly a month now, is that you will not find the Amide, if you do, consider yourself extremely lucky. The proof is in the pudding, just try to find the Amide brand, you won't. And it was a "voluntery" recall, that is why you will not find information on the Dea or FDA website.
Take care,
FLGIRL
I still think this is bull either way. Any form of opiate is abuseable.....any oxycodone IR is abuseable. One generic over another makes no difference. Just because the majority of the seized pills were amid does not mean they are most abuseable just that they are a common generic. Also where are you getting your facts from that 80% of the seized roxicodone was Amide? So far the only people saying they cant find the roxicodone is from florida. also they would not have to do research to know if it is abuseable....any opiate is abuseable and the roxicidone in general is widely abused not just the amide brand. Also if it was a voluntary recall they should have all been pulled off the shelves yet someone 5 days ago a friend got a script filled with 210 of the 30mg so obviously they weren't recalled or pulled off the shelves.
my pharmacy has them....in Largo Fl.
I am not a Dr. I just play one on TV.
Im not exactly sure what the deal is with the oxycodone hcl , is it just the Amide 30mg or the 5mg, 15mg and 30mg doses. My friend just a few hours ago filled their script and he gets alot. His Dr doesnt rx oxycontin so he uses the roxis 30mg 4 tablets three times a day with no BT meds so his script is for #360 a month, the pharmacist said nothing about them going away. I know that lst month they were out of the 30mg tablets and would be in the next day so he just took #720 of the 15mg tablets his Dr ok'd it. I think alot of it is a scare tatic but until the DEA FDA comes out and saya something I wouldnt be too worried. All of the brands Ethex, AMide, Mallie, Roxane are all just as easy to abuse so thats what confuses me.
What brand generic were the ones your friend had filled?
I really don't know exactly what is going on, but I do know I rely on this medication for my breakthrough pain and the Amide generics were MUCH better, in my opinion.
I'm sure we'll have more information regarding this issue in the next few weeks as people are due for their monthly refills. Before switching to Roxicodone for breakthrough, I was on Dilaudid and it wasn't helping AT ALL. I really hope this situation is resolved soon. If not, I don't know what I could try next for breakthrough pain, any ideas?
I can't take morphine because of IBS-C and the last time we tried a morphine type medication I was constipated for nearly THREE WEEKS!! Eeeeek! I know that all narcotics constipate, but I only had that problem with morphine, weird I know! LOL
Thanks for the help,
FLGIRL
this is in the massachusettes/Rhode Island area his script was filled with the blue Amide A215's. I just got off the phone with him.
Roxicodone 15mg & 30mg tablets both contain the same active and inactive ingredients as the Actavis brand which is actually manufactured in Totowa, NJ USA. So the Roxicodone brand from Xanodyne should also be covered under this "voluntary recall" forced upon Actavis by the FDA and DEA because they are extra abusable, lol!. All these rumors are speculation because of the Digitek recall, because they were double thick pills.
Just a little side note, even if a recall is voluntary the public is made to know about it. Its not like the gov thinks " you already have them, its cool, go ahead and take um".
The script was for 210 Amide brand 30mg oxycodone hcl. So the amide brand is still around. I also know someone else who gets 120 a month but his pharmacy dispenses mallinkrodt so the amide and mallinkrodt are still around in new york. There is a good point made below....if they were to recall it the general public would know about it and it would already be off the shelves so i highly doubt there is any recall voluntary or manditory.
you say you cant take morphine based meds yet dilaudid is hydromorphone so that makes no sense as it is morphine based.
The fact that people have had recent prescriptions filled with amide brand is irrelevant, remember people are still getting the last of the Teva brand Oxycontin over half a year after they have been discontinued.
Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!
Yeah but they are saying it was recalled not just discontinued. If it was recalled all the pharmacies and distributers should have sent them back to the manufacturer to be destroyed. The oxycontin generics were discontinued so still allowed for the rest of them to be dispensed. Or at least thats the way i am viewing it.
OK!!
lol... I am on the side of saying that I don't think there is a recall... BUT, what I am saying and why I started this post was because I went to get my script this month and EVERY pharmacy is put on back order, Some still have whats left in their safes... which is how I finally found mine.... I lucked out and got 150 of the amide, I haven't tried any other kind of roxy's BUT I'm not saying I wouldn't.... I know that there is only a difference in what they cut the pill with..... SAME ACTIVE tho..... I'm JUST looking for an answer as to why I'm having such a hard time trying to find my med's... AND I'm scared that When i go to get my next script its not going to be there..... Pharmacys DOWN HERE have been ordering them for a whole month and they don't come in the order.. they manafest says its on back order.... SO ITS NOT YET RECALLED FLGRINPAIN! I my self am a florida girl in just as much pain.... BUT I'm not worried about which ones I get... as long as I get the same active ingre. ..... WHEN ANYONE hears something thats on the NEWS then please post it! THANKS!
Florida Dee
I just got my 90 TEVA Oxycodone's on the 13th but the pharmacist said he probably will not have them in July,so now I have to go to the Morphine ER for my Medicare D plan pays very little of any brand names Gonna hate to do this but I have no other choice. I am guessing that it is about 3mg Morphine to 2 mg Oxy's
Currently I think we have like 5 active forums on the same topic, just to clear up a little info for the Massachusettes/Rhode Island Area. I live in the part of Rhode Island where there are alot of towns from mass that inter weave, I think i said that correctly. I just took a hour out of my day and called probably 20 different pharmacies and I said " Hello I have just received a prescription for oxycodone hcl 30mg from my DR, I belong to a forum that seems to think that the product especially by Amide has been voluntary recalled?" Most of the pharmacists or techs that I spoke to said either, well we carry the Mallnk and have plenty, we have the amide brand and have plenty and we could even give you double the 15mg tablets if your dr ok it, a couple pharms said i cannot give you any info over the phone you will need to come in. I also called a mom and pop and she said well I have a few bottles of Amide 30mg tablets but I just switched to the qualitiest. She then said i would never use Mallnk for any of my meds. One of the mom and pop pharms actually asked me the name of the wesite and I gave it to her she told me it sounded very interesting. So to clear up in the Southern Mass/Rhode Island area not one of the pharmacies I called knew or heard anything of such. Believe it or not one of the pharmacists from Walgreens didnt even know they made a 30mg tablet he thought just a 5mg and a 15mg he had to look in his CII book. So thats my research for the day..

Like I've said before... THIS s a south district problem.

You should look into your states laws. They try pulling that "we dont give out prices for controlled meds over the phone" baloney at one of the Sams clubs in my area, however it is illegal for them to not give you the price either in peron or over the phone before you get your meds filled. They are actually required to have a sign displayed in Michigan pharmacies that states this, and they still try pulling this stunt.
Just wondering where you go in Largo for pharmacy bc I can't find the amide/actavis brand anywhere around here.
I have not been logged in for a while, but to see all this about the "blues" makes me wonder sometime what people are thinking. Please pass this information on and please do not ask me any questions regarding the subject: Actavis (the manufacturer) had one (just 1) of their pharmaceutical plants closed by the FDA because of two other medications (Digoxin & a stomach medicaion that i forget the name of off hand) The Digoxin was found to be protherapuetic which in either case has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE OXYCODONE! The facility will reopen within a couple of weeks (from what i have been told; IT IS UP TO THE FDA) and the oxycodone will start to be distributed to pharmacies (that order from Actavis) within a a couple of weeks or so after they reopen. I have heard more &*&? about this than can be imagined. Anyone should be able to get this information from any respectable pharmacist. Finally there is nothing at all wrong with the white ones by Ethex or the other lighter blue ones from Mallinkrockt. They all contain 30mg of oxycodone. Think of it this way you can put 30ounces of water in 3 different glasses and in each glass there is still 30 ounces of water; right? If you answered no to this question seek psychiatric help! LOL,
ps Actavis owns (aquired Amide) in the U.S. just give it time folks...
Pharmer Oz
Awesome news above, pharmer Oz.
I am willing to bet that is 100% accurate because I live in Florida, and while I have had a tough time finding the Amide brand the past couple months, I know of pharmacies that are still getting in shipments of it.
Therfore, the above is true. This is good news for all =)

PEOPLE FROM 40 MILES SOUTH OF WHERE I LIVE HAVE BEEN DRIVING HERE TO MY TOWN TO GET THEM... AND NOW WHAT????
