Hope y'all are having a great holiday weekend.  It's been raining where I am, off an on all weekend, and that really makes my aches and pains exaggerated.  But, the whole idea of indendence got me thinking that i need to get my independence back from my meds.  I've posted about this before and i think my biggest obstacle is fear of withdrawal.  the worst that it has ever been for me is headaches when i didn't fill a script on time and got delayed a few hours before taking my dose.  i've read so much about withdrawal that it scares me to think about having to go through that.  i've gotten advice about suboxone and methadone and just tapering and it seems that tapering may be the way to go, but that means having to deal with WD.  Does anyone have any suggestions for what i can do to make the process easier when i begin tapering?  i am still worried about talking to my DR about this because i don't want to be cut back/off before i know that i can do this.  if anyone has any experience with the tapering process and can give me some pointers so i don't get really sick and fail at this please post a response.  i'm taking all legit meds, all prescribed doses and havnt been abusing in any way, but i definitely have become dependent after almost 3 years of regular use of pain killers.  thanks.  Roxie.

tapering

Hi roxie, so have u definately decided to do the taper on your own? After 3 years of use, thats gonna be a challenge. i woud go the methadone way, just from personal experience that way u can taper when u are ready and as slow as u want. If u have insurance. if not then u will hafta pay cash, and unless u have money, it wont work. what have u been taking most recently and how much??  if i remember correctly, in one of your previous posts you said you have been taking percs and vics? but harder stuff in the past.  Ill send u a PM coz it will prob be a long comment.

Someone posted a 10 week

Someone posted a 10 week weening period in here I had it but it got deleted I personally would never go the methadone route. If you look through the old posts I think you can find it

7-Day Schedule

I can't find the thread with a 10-week schedule, but there is one thread with advice on hydrocodone withdrawal over a 7-day period. No Suboxone or methadone is used in this withdrawal, making it practical for someone who wants to taper.

The slower you taper

The slower you taper the fewer withdrawal symptoms you will have.  It is possible to taper slowly enough that you have almost no symptoms.
