I know all the things about tylenol limits, and taking no more than 4000mg per day. I always try to explain this to everyone I know who takes anything containing tylenol.
That being said, one of my best friends usually takes 6-8 5/500 vicoden every day. She called me a little bit ago worried about what she was taking because she said she felt the "tylenol buzz" like she had too much, and asked me to look it up for her. She knew she was taking 7.5's, but thought they were 7.5/500mg. She had me look them up (knowing I get on pharmer) and I found out she was taking 7.5/750mg pills instead. She said she took 4 pills this morning, and took 4 more about 4 hours later. When she thought she was taking 4000mg of tylenol she was really getting 6000mg.
I told her to drink as much water as she could, and advised her of the signs of tylenol overdose. I told her to call if she had any problems, or felt like she needed to go to the doctor, but besides that I did not know what else to tell her what to do. Does anyone have any other suggestions besides what I said?
I really think she should go to her doctor to make a switch There are doctor's that will not write class 2 med's I know they have a cough medicine called HYCODAN which has no tylenol, but there is 1.5 mg of something in it which I do not remember ehat it is. It is not naltrexone. She could ask for that for I knew someone that was on it for many years and it worked very well him. I do not know exactly why they do not make hydro's agonists. Would it be that they would reschedule it to a class 2?

yea...tell her to be sure of what she is taking before she takes it!!!!!, what if she thought they were 325 instead of 750??? She obviously does not know her pills well enough yet. Im not trying to come off as being rude or mean, but she could have ended up worse than she is, so far anyways. But thats the first rule that everyone, well the people that have been around longest such as yourself 57, tells other people, esp. new ones. Some even post it at the bottom of every comment, i forget who but thats not the point. I would just tell her to check with you before she takes an unknown pill, or have her look it up on here herself. I hope she is ok and has learned from this.
