I recently had an mri and it actually didnt reveal much. I was wondering are thier any other or more advance mri's that can have better results or atleast see more clearer. I know that they have a virtual one and another type that you get dye injected in you and they scan to see were thier would be any eruptions on your spine. I wonder if mri's often have wrong images and maybe some things get missed. please give any info..thanks
MRI quality can vary. If the patient moves at all the images can be poor, very overweight patients, and older "open" MRI's can also have poor image quality. More importantly however, an MRI is not diagnostic for pain. (I am going to assume you had an MRI for back or neck pain) It is very useful in showing spinal stenosis, nerve root impingement, and degenerative disc disease. However many people with abnormal findings on MRI, have no symptoms whatsoever. Many people with incapacitating pain have normal or nearly normal MRI's. The MRI in conjunction with other imaging studies, laboratory tests, physical exam, history, and other types of testing such as EMG, all taken together provide you with the best chance of an accurate diagnosis.
