Baseline Meds...

What would be a good baseline med to replace 100 mcg fen. patch? been on the patch for about 9 months and its just not doing the job for me. what would any of you recommend? i know that it all depends on the person and every1 is different. just looking for suggestions. the patch is the only long acting med ive been on for pain. the replacement baseline doesnt have to be a long acting, just something that works! thanx

oxycontin, ms-contin,

oxycontin, ms-contin, avinza, methadone, or hydromorphone.  Almost anything in the right dosages.

Check with a licensed MD before you take any suggestions!

100 mcg Fentanyl patch is

100 mcg Fentanyl patch is very potent high dose narcotic.  It is going to be hard to find something "stronger" without going to higher than usually prescribed doses of Oxycodone, Morphine, or Oxymorphone.  What about the Fentanyl patch is not working for you?

dont want a stronger med

It only last me 48 hours max. they fall off all or most of the way frequently. they take about 12 hours for to start giving me minimal relief.then 36 hours later im getting no relief from it. they irritate my skin.im not looking for somethimg stronger, just something that works! im waking up in the middle of the night in pain more then ever now. on top of it the dr. reduced my oxycodone for bt from 15 mg to 5mg. its just 2 much 2 worry about for something that doesnt even work well. Is it gonna fall off? Is it gonna start working soon? Why doesnt it last me the 72 hours like it should?Etc..... And as i said im not looking for something stronger, just something that works! i guess thats a common misconception by most dr.'s. that when a patient says something is working, they assume you are looking for stronger meds like your some junky and not a human being who lives in pain.
