So it's official, Actavis has been shut down?I know there has been lengthy discussions on this forum about the actavis/amide brand of Roxicodone HCL being unavailable in the Southeast region. I kept up with most of the discussions here, and it was pretty much left at this: The major actavis manufacturing plant that ships to the southeast was shut down, but not for the Roxicodone HCL pills, but for some other pills (I believe related to stomach digestion, or something similiar) that they were making. It was also stated that the plant was supposed to be re-opening within a couple of weeks, and then everything would be back to normal. This was further solidified after someone on the forum made a post that everything was fine, as his local pharmacy had just received a shipment of the Actavis brand Roxicodone and that every pharmacy should be getting theres, that it will just be a matter of time. After going to my doctor's appointment this month, this is the first month out of the past 3 that I have absolutely NOT been able to find them. There was a massive shortage, and you really had to call around and do some researching in order to find them. But I did. I found them each month for the past 3 appointments, even though a lot of other people could not. However, today was the first day I could absolutely NOT find them ANYWHERE. Several pharmacy techs have told me that they will no longer be available permenately (this is the same thing some have said since 3 months ago).
So, the question still remains, what exactly is going on? Is there a statement? A letter? Some sort of update? Anything at all to put this question to rest, so that I can stop having to call around and try to track down this brand each month. Any & all help is appreciated.

YES I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT
Quote:YEAH THEY ARE BRAND
Quote: YEAH THEY ARE BRAND NEW. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO GETS THE 30MR ROXYS THAT ARE MADE BY MYLAN BUUT I ONLY KNOW ABOUT THE 30' Are you sure about that? Here is a link to Mylan's newest drug's within the past six months. The FDA also does not show Mylan as a manufacturer of Oxycodone. Go to the Resources for Pill Identification, and go down to the drugs @ FDA, and choose labeler Code. Mylan's label code is 00378. gtrplayer Bumping this thread. So is
WOW! I guess some of you
WOW! I guess some of you crazies were right about the recalls involving actavis. Here is a link to a press release that is dated 01.08.2008. Since this company is base over seas the first number is the day and the second set is the month (aug 1 2008). I figured something like this was going to happen after they had two recalls already this year, but there was soooo many people randomly spreading rumors its hard to diferenciate between fact and fiction. Oh one other thing. I find
Oh one other thing. I find it hallarious that they are recalling them from pharmacies, wholesalers and hospitals but the people who already have them have to wonder if there pills were manufactured under the same questionable manufacturing procedures but are not being let in on the recall. I would personally be freaked out thinking that my pills would possibley be tainted. oxycodone
I was under the impression that oxycodone was still under patent, and no other company except the patent-holder (USA Purdue, UK NAPP) were able to sell the stuff. However I am assured that Mallinckrodt make i/r oxycodone up to 30mg strength. Just as a matter of interest, EVERY single thing I have had manufactured by Mylan has been absolutely useless. Their Fentanyl patches were terrible and the green diazepam is abominable - more like 2mg than 10mg. On the other hand, Mallinckrodt make superb meds. They certainly make the very best hydrocodone/apap compound I have ever tried, marked 'M367'. 10mg/325. Though of course I would much rather have the pure Knoll/Abbott 10mg Dicodid. Problem is getting hydrocodone into the UK at all. No US site will ship, and I have to rely on people who can get a script in the US for the adulterated stuff. The Dicodid is increasingly hard to get. Gaucho "NEVER ingest anything unless you are 100% sure what it is." no it is just Oxycontin the
no it is just Oxycontin the extended release oxycodone that is still under patent. Roxicodone and percocet and similar IR meds have tons of generics. Even if actavis stopped making the 5, 15, 30mg generic roxicodone there would still be ethex, mallinkrodt, qualitest and i'm sure a couple other brands still making them Actavis remanufacturing Oxycodone?
I'm new to this board but not new to the industry. I hear that after the Little Falls plant closure, Actavis might be planning to start producing Oxycodone again at another plant in New Jersey. Does anyone know about this? It would be great to have Oxycodone from Actavis again. you only need to ask once
like i posted elsewhere...there is nothing on the website http://www.actavis.us/en/media+center/newsroom/default.htm
I am not a Dr. I just play one on tv. well actavis never released
well actavis never released what actually went wrong causing the recall so for all we know they could have been putting too much filler or something that isnt lethal/problematic. I am sure if there was a risk for the people taking them that they would have done a proper recall and had all consumers return them too. |
