ok so, im fairly ne to this site, but i have done my fair share of reading and digesting all that you guys AND GIRLS have put out there that you didnt have to. i thank you all for the information that you give to your local blue collar man/woman, well with that said, i have an intresting matter of events over the last week, i have a buddy who is in methadone treatment, he was bad on illegally obtaining OC i mean forged rxs, pharmacy theft (which is why he will remain annonymous) and met him while he was rocovering, well anyway, i was at his familys home for a BBQ and he told me about a placebo medication for addiction, well he showed me the bottle, and it seemed to be legit, methadose 10s, but later on he asked me to grab one for him, i did so with care, i knew he was going through alot, i gave him the tablet, and he wasnt sick anymore, his eyes went back to white from yellow...etc. later on that day he showed me this medicaly testing lab he was a subject with, they made placebos to imposter narcotic meds for people with more mental illness with addiction than physical, he has the real methadoses, and these placebos, which his wife and i have given to him, so the question is how would a fake narcotic stop the withdrawal? was this really a case of MIND OVER MATTER? does the mind have enough stored opioid in the body to release some if it is tricked into thinking it actually recieved the goods? thanks, any comments would be appreciated!

     I think a big part

I think a big part of it is.  Like when your d-sick and you start feeling better when you know for sure your fix is on it's way.  In fact, most methadone clinics offer a detox regamen, called "blind dosing," where you don't know how many mg's your getting for the day.  But I hate to say, there is a definite physical w/d.  While your using ops your brain gets used to not having to produce as much endorphins.  Endorphins are like your body's natural opiate, they are released when you eat, excercise, have sex, feel pain, etc.  After you quit ops, it takes time for your brain to build them back up to normal levels.  That's mainly why your body feels so bad while you d/t.

clinical study

sometimes during clinical studys they will give you unmarked pills some will get placebos and some will get the actual meds... or on one refill they will give you sugar pills and next they will give you actual meds or (blind dosing) adjust dosage amount and document how you feel each time .. so odds are if they made that big a diffrence that day ...then he got actual med..

It is medically unethical to

It is medically unethical to administer a placebo and tell the patient it is the real thing.  It is done intentionally in studies, but patients are informed that they may be recieving a placebo.  Studies on the effect of placebo, show that a percentage of people will respond to placebo, but the response is often temporary.

On the other hand, I really don't understand what you are saying at all.  Why do you think the methadose 10 was a placebo?  Withdrawal does not make your eyes turn yellow, and administration of a narcotic to someone in withdrawal will not make their eyes turn from yellow to white.  I have to be suspicious of even the accuracy of your observations in this matter.

i think what he was trying to say was

the unmarked pills were size and shape of methadose 10s and bottle,  and doctor conducting study probably said some people will get methadose and some people will receive placebo.....and It sounds like he also had some methadose that were marked, obviously not related to the study
