Which Fentanyl patch manufacturer is best?I've recently been placed on the Fentanyl Patch (25 mcg/hr). I was just bumped up to one of these patches plus another 12 mcg/hr patch. First I went to a pharmacy that dispensed the Watson Labs kind and now I just got the Mylan type from a different pharmacy (I changed pharmacies only because they had a $1.00 per gallon of gas coupon if you get a new script filled with them). Anyway, does anyone have experience with the types of patches made by different manufacturers? What I'm really interested in is people's skin reactions to different types, the effectiveness and how long they stay on. From my limited experience with Watson, they irritated my skin and after 12 hours (and one shower) I was already applying lots of waterproof tape to keep the darn thing on. Any feedback on this? Thanks so much. ( categories: Chronic Pain and Pain Management )

I am currently on the Duragesic patches as well and I ONLY use the Mylan brand. All the other brands made me break out and they wouldn't stay on. The Mylan brand doesn't have the Gel in the patch like the Watson brand and Sandoz brand and my pharmacist told me that Mylan uses a totally different adhesive. I bet you will see that you will be very happy with the Mylan brand. I am and will use nothing else. Let me know how it goes! Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I noticed that immediately that the patch was much smaller and stayed on better. It is much easier to conceal than the gel kind. They upped my dose from one 25 mcg patch to that plus a 12 mcg patch but it doesn't seem to be making any difference. Hmmm...I'm just wondering if it isn't that I switched brands when I changed doses, although I like the Mylan for the smallness and less irritation. When i use to be on the
When i use to be on the other brands before I went to the Mylan brand, I noticed that the Mylan brand actually helped my pain and worked better than the other brands with the gel inside them. Give it time. They work great in my opinion! It was only about
It was only about 5-7 years or so ago that I was given the Duragesic patch and this was before Medicare D came out. I was allergic to these patch's and gave them to my doctor and went back to the Oxycodone ER. I am so glad that they only had 5 patch's at the pharmacy and only charged me for 5 and was supposed to come back in a few day. There were no generics available then. What I remember is the expensive, Does anyone have a price for 10 75 mcg patch's Just wondering the price My experience
My experience was the smalest ones were the best. The long ones that were like 3 inches in length left horrible adhesive marks on my body. the best way to get those marks off is if you get 91% not 70% ispropyl alcohol. Remember, 91% NOT 70% alcohol. Later bro. |
