Further finds from Grandma's houseI continue to find more goodies as we break down Grandma's house. Today's find: a bottle of Zomax tablets circa 1981. I can't find much info on the web about it, it must be discontinued. I have found a couple references, which indicate it's an NSAID. That means it's basically ibuprofen, or something like that, right (no opiate goodness)? Also found a bottle of Thorazine, the label says take every 4-6 hours for pain. Was thorazine prescribed for pain often? ( categories: Pill Identification )
these drugs are nothing
these drugs are nothing but garbage as in you should flush them... 1981? come on bro, why the interest in a pill from 81? i feel it is a bad idea to id something that did have narcotics in it...it seems that's what you are after...as you posted....if this sounds harsh...sorry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zomax
hey i tried one of these once and my tongue swelled up and about choked me...i prayed to live through it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorazine

Because it's history! Sorry Goat, but I am so interested in the history of these drugs. For example Valium and Soma have been around about 50 years - and are still commonly prescribed. And easy to find. Some of the other pills that pharm-hands' Grandma had are obsolete and were hard to find. Maybe the pills deserve to be obsolete, but we should be able to identify them easily. The info and/or imprints should be available forever. In this particular case, all is well. We identified them all with help from a few members. Any imprinted pills need to be recorded forever and preferably photographed for the future. Someone, somewhere, sometime may need the information. And that info may be very important. I'm not a pharmacist or a medical doctor. This message is not medical advice nor is it an offer to provide medical advice. All drug identifications should be validated by a licensed MD or pharmacist. Thorazine was a drug they used in state mental hospitals to calm down patients back in the 70's..they also prescribed it as a tranquilizer to some folks outside of hospitals as a drug of control for the mentally ill and probably others as well...Stellazine is also in this category...as well as a drug called Melloril I believe....its real nasty stuff. They may have prescribed it for other reasons I am unaware of tho...I knew some people who were on that drug back then and they were like zombies....walking around in circles...they couldn't sit down because of the effects of Thorazine. |
