hey ive recently been put on ativan for social anxiety and then they started my on zoloft so i dont have to be on ativan anymore...what if the zoloft doesnt work??

Ativan vs Zoloft

Ativan is an antianxiety med and Zoloft is an antidepressant and although they are sometimes used in conjunction with one another I wouldnt necessarily think you could take one instead of the other.  I would talk with your doc and try and figure out what the desired outcome is supposed to be.  The other thing is you might experience some withdrawal symptoms after stopping the Ativan without another drug to substitute or being weaned off.  This is just my opinion and I am not a medical professional just speaking from personal experience having been on both of these meds.

Ive been on ativan .5 for a

Ive been on ativan .5 for a month 3 times a day what withdrawls you think im looking at im kinda iffy about taking the zoloft the first time i took it a just felt weird i dont no if it was placebo though

my guess

 is a couple days of minor discomfort, I  withdrawled monthly many times from ativan..12-14 mg a day...daily dose was 8 mg...for many years.

 is FDA approved for social anxiety,ocd,panic disorder,depression....its a very good med imo

she shouldv'e been tapered off the Ativan instead of just stopping and then starting the Zoloft?

No not really. .5mg ativan

No not really. .5mg ativan is already a low dose that is equivalent to .25mg xanax or klonopin and is pretty much the lowest dose you can get in ativan. As Goat said if anything it will only give minor discomfort for a day or two if that.
