is soma a very strong muscle relaxer?Hi my PM doc just changed my muscle relaxer fom baclofen to soma and boy can I feel a difference. When I first took it It felt like I took a few percs. I was nodding while I was smoking a cigarette. but I could hear everything and it was hard but I was able to lift my head up. Whats up with that? I take lexapro and have been on it for about 2 months. I take it at night before I go to bed and I dont get a "speed" type of feeling. I dont know if youve ever taken adderall but I dont compare the two at all. I really dont feel the lexapro working at all except itmakes me a little calmer. ya soma is a pretty strong
ya soma is a pretty strong muscle relaxer, I think it's up there with flexaril.
and ya, even though your body is used to an anti-depressant, you should still start off with a small dose, and work your way up, cause they all work differently.
I was on lexapro for awhile, it's a good antidepressant. I think you'll like it better than prozac. thanks for the info but
thanks for the info but flexeril didnt have any (edited) effect on me. Soma makes me feel like I just took a qualude or something. Its really strong with me. Help me to relax though

Flexril does nothing to me but knock me out. I have never had any type of benefit other than sleep from it. I would love to try to find something that would actually relax my neck/shoulders. The knots I have can get to be unbearable.

Flexaril makes me sleepy also and gives me a bad attitude problem. Soma is great and the only muscle relaxer that has ever worked for me. Zanaflex is like being drunk without being drunk if that makes any sence, skelaxin is useless. I have not tried any others.  Agree too
Carisoprodol (Soma in the USA, Carisoma everywhere else - why do they change brand-names for a single country? The most blatant is Roche's RIVOTRIL which is called 'Klonopin' in the US for some odd reason) is certainly one of the best if not the best muscle-relaxant around. Indicated when the problem results from a sprain or such like more than just a common-or-garden muscle relaxant. A very good alternative is the benzodiazepine tetrazepam (Myolastin) which in 100mg dose is probably a better choice when the problem is not due to any painful sprains or other similar conditions. It comes only in 50mg tablets and has very little, if any, sedative action normally associated with BZDs. I admit that the sdative action of carisoprodol is an added bonus for me. Wallace brand Carisoma is the best I have tried, much better than Watson's over-priced version. "NEVER ingest anything unless you are 100% sure what it is." (edited) Am I understanding right?
Am I understanding right? You say that Kpins are the best for a muscle relaxer? I have snapping scapula syndrome, therefor my upper back muscles are always in knots and my Dr. has only ever offered me Flexirl. Im going to have to suggest something else. Like I said the flex only puts me to sleep, I have had sklexton (sp?) that was nothing for me. I take Ultram for the pain normally, but Im sure if I could get these knots to relax, ahhh I think Id be in heaven I'm just a Mom, in pain, a tad crazy, giving my 2 cents. All I know is when I wake up in the morning I take Soma, 350, k-pin 1mg, 100 mg of Lamictal, 500 mgs 0f Naproxen, much better than ibu to my suprise, 10 mg of lexapro,(it was 20 mgs, but it made me manic the Psyc. told me to make it 10 mgs,) (She thinks its the lexapro, but it may be somehting else, it only happened 1 time) and 20 0f prilosec, ultram er 200, with 50 mg's PRN, and when I go out out to walk my little dog (a shi-tsu) he drags me down the street and I cant keep up with him, when we walk slow, I go from side to side of the pavement, I look LIke Im plastered!!!! But Im not, My thinking is clear, I just cant walk or balance. I fell off my bed today reaching for the remote which was on the floor, LOL, just went BAM!! couldnt stop myself. Didnt hurt though, it was pretty funny trying to get back up as I was alone !!! I think soma is a great muscle relaxer. I have to go out to dinner at a relatives house tonight, uh oh !!!! I better lay down for a couple hours, Take care! PS I dont think that other poster was saying that some was a klonipin. You just read it wrong.

say to take your Soma at the same time as your kpin? I would think taking the two together is what is screwing you up. You should take them at different times instead of together, unless of course your doc told you to do this. However, I couldn't imagine taking the two together and then going out for a walk or stagger rather. Clarification (I think)

Omit the text in () and it reads like this: "Carisoprodol is certainly one of the best if not the best muscle-relaxant around." I believe that was the intended point that was being made. He was not saying Klonopin was a good muscle relaxant just that it had a major name change in other countries.Soma is nothing like
Soma is nothing like flexeril as flexeril does absolutely nothing for me but soma does. Yes it is very potent and can nmake you feel a little out of it until your adjust to your doseage especially when you are taking it with a benzo and the ultram. For some reason benzos severely increase the sedation felt by somas so be careful until you adjust to your dose. And as for the brand names yeah it is stupid...gaucho hit it on the head with the whole Rivotril/klonopin thing and the Soma/carisoma. It should be the same name brand everywhere. Maybe try half a tablet if you are "nodding out"...Thats a term usually associated with taking too much strong opiate/opiods. If you are nodding and barely able to lift your head, I would strongly advise agains SMOKING A CIGARETTE! You don't wanna risk a fire.

Yeah, well I realize that now, Not to smoke a cigarette while iM taking the soma. but I didnt know, it was the first time I took itl and yes, it was exactly like nodding from too many opiods. i thought that was really weird. I fell again today. Dontknowif its from soma orthe mixture of my meds, but I lost my balance in my room and plopped over onto a pile of clothes. Yes on the floor, one day Im really gonna hurt myself. and Im no spring chicken ya know? I have absolutgely no balance control, and I forget where I put EVERYTHING!!!!!! Then I go manic lookingfor it and then have to take a xannie to calm me down. whew, this is nuts!! So you take
Soma, kpin and Xanax? No wonder you are falling down and don't know if you are coming or going. Do you get all of that from the same doctor or more than one for more than one condition? I was reading your posts and you talk about falling down and not remembering things. I can't believe your doc would have you take these three meds together on the same dosing schedule. Not that it really matters
Not that it really matters but I only use the term nodding out for opiates. for soma most people use a slang of "soma coma". also like I said earlier taking the soma with a benzo definitely causes an increase in sedation and loss of balance although the soma can do that just by itself. I dont know why you were forgetting as the forgetting stuff is usually associated with benzodiazepines not carispodol.And as to the smoking a cigarette I would definitely be careful because I had a friend who nodded out on opiates with a cigarette in his hand and it fell and ignited some tissues he had laying on the floor...lucky me and a couple other people were there to quickly stomp it out but if he was by himself it could have turned out really bad. |
