Hi, I finished my 60 klonopins, supposed to be 2 per day, in 2 weeks, I know, abuse, It doesnt even seem like I took that many. Thats over 6 per day,and there is absolutely no way in he double hokey sticks that I took that many per day. Ususally I take my 1mg in the am, and1mg in the pm and if im really stressed my psychiatrist said I can take an extra one, but not too often.  I cant even beging to imagine me taking thatmany k=kins,   no way!!!  I dont know what to tell her.  My son was just sentanced to 5 years in prison which upset me pretty much, but 6 k's per day? Id be a zombie!!! I dontknowwhat to tell her  cause thats alot.  Andshe said dont take too many extra cause she wont refill the script early!  My knowledge as a RN tells me otherwise.  If go 2 more weeks without her refilling my kpins, I will go into seizures and could die from benzo withdrawl.  So basically shetells me shewont refill,  to deter me, but Im sure she has to.  Should I tell her I fell asleep on the bus and my pocketbook opened andspilled on the floor and I got everythingh  back except for 10.00 and my Kpins?   Or should I tellher about my son, which meand I took 60 1mg kpins in 2 weeks, which I still cantfigure out really.  Please help me.  I dont what to do about this.  this also happend once before and I went to cVS andthe pharmacits just gave me 15 more kpins,  I was in shock!! I can do this again a rightaid, but if cvs reported it to my insurance, then I'llbe in truoble  any suggestions.  AndI can remember squat!  I had one kpin left so i put it in a seperate bottle all its own, put it in my purse (I thoughtI did anyway) and now its no where, Its freaking me outl  help

Call your psychiatrist and

Call your psychiatrist and fess up.  You need treatment for benzodiazapine abuse, not more benzodiazapine.  You can't even remember if you took all 60 klonapin; how can you possibly think that getting more klonapin is the answer  It is possible, but unlikely that you will have seizures and die from stopping benzodiazapines, but perhaps you do need inpatient treatment.

you probably took all of them

After 4 or 5 of them you were most likely in a blackout and then continued taking them.  When you woke up you had no knowledge of taking them due to being in that state of blackout.

If I were you I would level

If I were you I would level with the dr. and tell them the truth. You really need treatment. He or she wouldn't buy the excuse you mentioned anyways about spilling them ..they hear made up stories like that all the time.

Maybe you didn't take them

Is there anybody around you who may have taken them from you?

Dr. Lois is right. You need

Dr. Lois is right. You need to come clean with your doc. Not lie to her and make up a story. I'm no doc but there is NO WAY I would believe the "bus" story. No way. Also, I don't think your doc HAS to refill your K-pins early b/c you ran out too soon and will go into w/d's and have seizures. (which the seizure part probably wouldn't happen anyway but the w/d's will) The doc can do whatever she wants. It's not her fault you didn't take them as prescribed. Maybe someone stole them. Does anyone have easy access to you meds? But you do need to let her know what happened. Don't lie. It just makes things 10 times worse.

Good luck to you.................KK

I mean you made the decision

I mean you made the decision to take all those pills when you knew they were supposed to last you a month.  Not smart.  You probably need benzos due to the stress in your life. I am sorry to hear about your son, that is awful.  The sad thing is, your doctor might not prescribe you anymore benzos ever again because of this.  The smart thing to do is be honest, " the truth will set you free".  Work out a plan with your doctor and stick to it.  Have some self control.

clonazepam

I don't think you say exactly what your daily prescribed dose is. KLONOPIN is the Roche brand-name used in the USA for what everyone else knows as RIVOTRIL, i.e. clonazepam, available usually in 500mcg and 2mg strength, though I have heard that in the USA they make a 1mg tablet, which is not a regular strength available aywhere else.

Neither do you say what they were actually prescribed for. In most places the indication is status epilepticus or seizures. They are unlicenced for anxiety disorders in most countries unless prescribed 'off-label'.

Recommended dosage is 500mcg three times daily to start, titrating up to a maximum of 4mg per day (source: British National Formulary, ed. 54). Anything more than that is excessive, clonazepam being, along with alprazolam, the strongest benzo on the market in relation to the standard of 10mg diazepam; 500mcg of each of those drugs is equivalent to that 10mg of diazepam (source: Prof. Ashton's Equivalence table, posted elsewhere on this site.)

Clonazepam has the advantage of being a benzo which does not have too much of a heavy sedative action compared with other strong benzodiazepines, enabling daily tasks to be carried out without problem sedation. Perhaps this is what you are looking for in it? If so, consider changing to another med suitable for your condition, if sedation is a necessary part of your treatment.

Clonazepam must be treated very carefully because of its very high strength, coupled with a much higher half-life than alprazolam. Think through the matter and discuss it with your prescriber - perhaps this is not the correct drug for you.
