White round pill with 01 C imprinted on each halfGday, I recently purchased a bottle of 'Dexamphetamine Tablets' with Dexamphetamine Sulphate 5mg printed on the label. Upon opening the bottle i found that the pills were not marked 'D 5' like usual, but instead carried a '01 C' marking on each half of the pill, and a strange series of lines on the other side. Note* The pills were flat and round in shape and white in colour. I also have a suspicion that the bottle may have been tampered with, although the safety seal was intact and the correct amount of pills were inside. This is my first post so any help with identifying these pills would be greatly appreciated. ( categories: Pill Identification )
Australia, eh?
Your D5 tablet is made by Sigma, Australia, so I assume you're from Australia or somewhere in that part of the world. So far nothing is popping up for 01C 01C except that I think the manufacturer is Boehringer, a company that makes brand name meds. Does the Boehringer logo look like your description of "...strange series of lines on the other side"? Submitted by chemik on August 14, 2006 - 6:22am. ![]()

Yeah im from WA, you were right saying 'Boehringer' is the manufacturer. The pills have that exact logo printed on the back. I've been looking around their site and am pretty sure that the pills are called 'Clonidine', each pill (or half pill) containing 100mcg 'Clonidine Hydrochloride'. It seems that the D 5's were removed and these 'Clonidine' pills put back in their place. Thanks for your help Kirby :) Boehringer Logo 01C 01C
UVW, thank you so much for coming back and telling us what the pill is. I never looked at Catapres imprints at all. Often the details get to me and the big picture is overlooked. In this case I'm embarassed since Catapres is probably Boehringer's most famous med in the US (both tablets and patch). Our tablet imprint is different but that's beside the point. Here is detailed info from MyDr.com.au re Catapres® 100 Tablets and the description: Quote: Catapres® 100 Tablets
For future reference the imprint is the same in Canada - and most likely the same in the UK and New Zealand. Thanks again! And I assume you realize that Catapres is not anything similar to dexamphetamine or other CNS stimulants. Catapres (clonidine) treats high blood pressure but is is often prescribed for 'off label' uses in the US. I'm not a pharmacist or a medical doctor. Thanks for the info Kirby, it was most helpfull as i have not come accross 'Catapres' tablets before. Yeah at first i thought it must of been some sort of CNS stimulant, but the 'Boehringer' imprint on the back was a bit of a throw off.. I checked up on 'Clonidine' and am now aware of its 'properties'. It seems that i was swindled with my purchase.. not to worry tho :) If i have any other 'suspect pills' i shall be sure to post them in the forum. Cheers Kirby, all the best :) |
