Need input

Ok I have two subjects to talk about. I really would like anyones input and want to know if anyone has had the same experiences...

First off... i take alot of roxy 30mg and oc 40 mg. When i am under the influence of these pills i have to pee alot but when i go to the restroom i can never pee the urine will never come out. So I wait and wait and wait and sometimes it barely comes out and sometimes it never comes out at all. I can feel it inside me it just seems like its jammed up or its held up by something. It really really bothers me because sometimes i find myself standing over the toilet waiting and waiting for over 15 minutes and when i wait i got a rare chance of even going... so i am woundering if anyone has this same problem or if anyone can tell me anything about this or is it just me....

Next... somtimes i find myself doing to many of these pills but when i realize ive done to many i usually slow down the pace and try and slow it down the next days ... but my tolerence is so high that i  have to take so many.... but i end up being messed up and i find myself falling asleep sitting up so when this starts to happen i know that it is bed time...me and my girlfriend tuck ourselves in for bed and i fall right to sleep( This isnt all the time but its happened alot of times) but usually 45 minutes to a hour later i wake up out of a deep sleep its like i slept off the tiredness in my head and i start freaking out like a high sence of anxiety and i start to realize that its hard for me to take deep breathes its like im breathing very rapidly and my heart feels like its beating out of my chest....i also start to feel paranoid so i start looking out of the windows...then i get up and start pacing through the house... i start to freak myself out i really dont know why this happens and it dosent always happen just somtimes... i also feel like i have heartburn so i try and drink cold water... this usally lasts a long time and i cant ever go back to sleep so i stay up all night because i freak myself out thinking that if i go to sleep i am afraid i wont wake back up... my girlfriend just thinks i am crazy... it sucks though because i have to stay up all night until the sun comes up in the morning and i feel all weird until i can finally go to sleep.

I just want some input on the things i said, im not sure if anyone else has experienced these things i just want to see what everyone has to say..

I have alsonoticed this

I have alsonoticed this problem when on higher doses of opiates. I think it is a more common reaction to a higher dose and in my experience if you try to relax instead of trying to force it then you will be able to urinate. It is rather uncomfortable but if you are able to relax the muscles you normally use to urinate then it would help.

I would imagine it is the

I would imagine it is the oxycodone which is causing your difficulty in urination. Because if oxycodone can cause constipation then it would possibly cause that form of constipation as well. Goat and Freak answered it to a t. I just felt like putting my input and my personal experience in as well. Because I have had difficulty in urination before, it happens so rarely though. If I was you I wouldn't ingest more than prescribed because that is more than likely what is causing you to be afraid of losing your life. And your fears could very well come true. You may need to consult your physician in regards to anxiety if that indeed is what you're experiencing. Just a guy going by personal experience. take care.

side effects of high doses of opiates

I have problems with urinating too, feeling like you have to go and having to push and can't go. My doctor/pain management specialist said it was the opiates, oxycontin 40 mg (then) now 60mg and roxicodone 30mg. I also was having panic attacks for the 1st time in my life after he increased my dosage, my doctor also said it was from the higher doses of opiates. After I got used to the higher dosage of Oxycontin, the panick attacks are not so frequent, but the problems when urinating have not at all. I hope my experiences help.

I have the same problem

but instead of sitting in there for ever I just wait and try again later. One thing I have found that helps sometimes is I turn on the faucet in the sink and every now and then it works. I don't know the physiological cause for this but I would love to hear from anyone who has researched it.Undecided

well...

A good thing that helped me when I had the same problems when I was on oxycodone is muscle relaxers, you might want to ask your doctor if they will rx you a few a day. They might even help with the pain, depending on what it's from. The only downside to them is they make some people tired.

Osiris0004, have you had

Osiris0004, have you had your prostate checked? If you have an enlarged prostate gland it can cause difficulty in urination.  Enlarged prostate is quite common.

I also am on the same drugs,

I also am on the same drugs, and have the same urinating problems. Very common. When I read on this matter, it said that the muscles that keep the anus tightened, are also in the same area that keeps our bladders tightened too. To be frank, it says that is why when we sit to go have a BM, that is also why we tend to relieve our bladders after the stool is released, because the muscles are relaxed. I myself was going to go in and have my prostate checked, until I read this information.

I found that bending my knees, leaning with one hand against the wall, and tickling my tail bone area, seemed to help get the flow started. Sorry for the in depth details, but it works.

Problems Urinating

I always thought that oxycodone and not being able to urinate was associated with your prostate becoming inlarged. can someone please shed some light on this?

Sorry to hear that you are

Sorry to hear that you are going through all of this. Sounds to me like you are having some pretty severe Panic Attacks. Have you addressed these with your doc? Maybe he/she could give you something for the Anxiety(maybe Klonopin?) or maybe something to help you stay asleep?

Good luck to you............KK

PS; Pls don't take more of your meds then Rx'd. You said that you have had the fear of not waking up someday and if you continue to take more then Rx'd that just might happen.Frown

Urinary retention, like

Urinary retention, like constipation and anxiety is a common side effect of narcotics.  But you should see a doctor, to have other causes ruled out.  It would be really refreshing to have someone come in the office and say "hey doc, I am a narcotic addict, but could you give me a physical to make sure nothing else is wrong."

Yes

Taking too much of many narcotics (not just oxy) can cause all kinds of strange side effects. Those also sound like w/d's at least from my experience. A better med I think for anxiety is Ativan. It also is good for sleep. However you might abuse that also, my advice is too stay away from narcotics altogether. If you really are having anxiety buspar works for some people and is non-narcotic. I have an anxiety disorder and take ativan, it has saved my life. Actually it's given me a life. I was having 6-15 panic attacks a day. Ativan, ambien, and clexea have allowed me to get my life back.
