Hey,, I am taking opana er and I have break through pain which I was perscribed 5mg opana to help me. the opana 5mg makes me tied and I really need to be a productive person and work without looking like i am escaping from a methadone clinic. I would like to have something that gives me a little extra energy. mind you I am going through menopause and I am only 40. I am sick of the pain and unfortunately have no choice but to take something to make it throught the day. Is it possible to just taper off this medication and look for something else or ask my doctor. please any unput or advise would be helpful. thanks and have a painfree day. peace
I thought about that. I just sometimes feel embarrassed. it seems nothing is helping. I can tell because I cant even bend over without my back and knees feel like someoneis putting an ice pick in my muscles. thanks again for taking the time to reply to my question..peace
opana and all morphine based meds make me lethargic and not able to work properly. I would suggest switching to something codeine based like hydrocodone or oxycodone. Even fentanyl would probably provide less sedation but that is a patch or lollipop not a pill.On a side note hydrocodone actually gives me a lot of energy sometimes and oxycodone does a little bit but not as much as the hydrocodone. morphine sulfate(MScontin, avinza. kadian etc) and diacetyl morphine(not a prescription drug) makes me very very tired and lethargic but i have never tried opana but I would assume it is similar but then again hydromorphone (dilaudid) doesnt make me tired or lethargic it is mostly just morphine and diacetyl morphine that does but if you are still too tired and lethargic take my advice and look into something codeine based. Perhaps Oxycontin for an ER med and Norco or percocet/roxicodone for a breakthrough med
Hi, sounds like plan. not sure how I am going to say , I really appreciate that you have taken the time to hwlp me out, thanks again..Tracey
My suggestion would be to ask your MD to switch you to another ir med. I was on Opana ER and IR and I did not care for it as it really did not work for me.Now I am on Duragesic 100 and Oxy ir or dilaudid for breakthrough pain, we swith the BT every few months so there are no tolerance issues. I would just be straight with my doc and explain your situation. If he or she is a good understanding person I think your situation is more than workable. Good Luck, Nancie
