I'm a scientist by day, nerd

I'm a scientist by day, nerd by night.  I originally started out by  helping my friend set up this web site, but my competitive nature couldn't resist trying to identify the pills.  Not much experience in the pill dept aside from the I-2s and some 512s this summer for this:

I do find the biochemisty and pharmcokinetics of drugs fascinating.

Some hardware, mitomac!  Ouch - looks like the fork could be more uncomfortable than the bone break(s)?

To answer prego2634's question "Who are you?" - I'm a housewife and mother to twin girls and one boy, all teenagers.  Good kids so far.

My husband has several medical problems and takes lots of meds.  About a year ago he got a couple of prescriptions and within a week was very ill - sick enough to be hospitalized.  After many tests it was discovered one of the medications was to blame.  He received the wrong prescription, and we didn't know the difference!

So I now check his medications thoroughly.  I bought a subscription to a reference source and use it all the time.   And, speaking of time, I have plenty of time when the kids are in school.   So  I use the pill ID reference and check pills for other people.  It's good to help others.  And it helps me - the more I use the reference, the cheaper each pill ID is.

So that is "who I am."

Accountant

I'm an accountant with way too much time on my hands. And I like games, so I started identifying pill imprints for a hobby.  Each imprint is a mini puzzle waiting to be identified.

Like Princess, I enjoy helping others identify their pills.

Unlike mitomac, I'm not at all interested in the chemical makeup or dynamics of pills.   I like the physical appearances - the colors, shapes and logos.  Some pills are miniature works of art.

It's fun researching and very satisfying when the puzzles are solved.

I'm not a pharmacist or a medical doctor. This message is not medical advice nor is it an offer to provide medical advice. All drug identifications should be validated by a licensed MD or pharmacist.

Maintenance man

I got hurt a couple of years ago, prescribed lorcet for the injury with no refills. When the script ran out a co-worker tried to Sell me some of his. Every lorcet that I had ever seen started with a "M"........His didn't look nothing like that so I didn't buy them and then started doing searches on the internet and found this place......Long story short, I and all my friends that confide RX questions to me, come here first. What's so cool about this place, I haven't seen any body judging anybody else, just simply stating facts or experiences. Great place to be.

who am i

I'm a 22 year old male auto technician whose shattered his right arm a couple years

ago and after surgeries to rebuild the damage i did due to a motorcycle accident.

And then broke two of the bones in my left hand, which again required surgery, just

a few months ago (at least this time it DIDN"T envolve a moving vehicle). So

now i have a bone that will not fuse with the bone graphs in my right arm, causing

constant pain, and two bones that are still healing in the left.  Makes working on

cars fun. Now i get RX pain killers that are different generics - which makes this

wonderful site very useful in identifying the different pills.  Thanks.

Computer Technician & Paramedic

I hope this post isn't too late but I thought that I should also introduce myself.

I am a now retired computer/telecommunications technician who also happens to be a former Paramedic trained in Pharmacology.  I find medicine to be fasinating and I had plans to attend medical school but, unfortunately, things do not always go as planned.

I am also no stranger to the world of chronic pain as I suffer from MS and various forms of nerve pain such as Sensorimotor Neuropathy and Degenerative Disc Disease.  Hence the reason I am retired.

I love to help my fellow man and chronic pain patient out when ever they need some advice, so please feel free to ask.

Take care

Nope...

Never too late....

Me.. I'm a telecom tech working towards my CCNA. I found this site when I was looking up a pill I had and couldn't remember what it was. Stayed on to help others to be able to identify the pills that they need identifying. So much so, that I'm a member of all three leading sites.

Single mom with 2 jobs. . .

I have a strong family history of clinical depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, and so forth so have seen my share of pills in the family medicine cabinet.  Personally I've been prescribed numerous types of anti-anxiety and anti-depression medications for fibromyalgia and symptoms of MS (though not confirmed).  I wound up on this site when attempting to determine whether or not a pill I had was a Xanax or a rip-off.  Unfortunately, I think the latter was the case.

student/waiter/bartender/airline exec.

I am a 22 year old student who is working towarda degree in Business management hopefully to end up working in airline management. I want to try and fix what remains of the U.S. domestic aviation market or at least change things for the better. I am a waiter/bartender at PF Changs China Bistro at night.

A year or so ago I severely injured my back and ribs and have been using narcotic and Rx anti inflammitory pain medicines, as well as benzodiazepines for muscle relaxants. Makes is difficult to bartend and wait tables but I have to make money and get through school somehow. I can't let chronic pain fomr some kinda pinhed nerve hold me back from my passions. Which include pills. I , like Kirby, think of each pill as a work of art and am fascinated by the mystery of what each different could size, shape, color, etc. could be? Unlike Kirby, I am also interested in the pharmaceutical makeup of pills. I've been told by the many friends and acquaintences who I have ID'd pills for and given basic pharmaceutical information that I need to pursue my pharmacy degree as I'd make an excellent pharmacist.Who knows, maybe someday. So in short, I'm interested as a patient and as a interest/hobby.

Yeah, they are aware...it wont ever change, as long as there are unscrupulous people there will be diversion. The problem that ensues however, it makes it harder for them to give medications to people who really do need it, out of fear of the stigmas often attached to these medications for the very reason you mentioned.

super dangerous

You are correct, that esp. all those amphetamine salts and in that dosage could a cause life threatning situation esp. if never exposed to the substance and don't understand what effect the drug has on the CV system.  Not to mention what it does to stimulate various parts of the brain and has a VERY high pontential for abuse.  I guess thats why it is a controled substance #2.  Like with any prescribed drug be careful and use only as prescribed. Thanks.

I am intrigued by Pharm.  and if used as prescribed are wonderful like alot of other things in life if abused can and do have a very dark side as well. Thanks for letting me share.

Tandy and Hello

Hey B,

I can do you one better.  My first computer was a Radio Shack Tandy ? and had for storage a 128kb floppy drive.  We thought we were big shots when we upgraded with a second 128 floppy.  NO hard drive at all, lol.

I was just 48 yrs old and professionally am a Medical Laboratory Directory whose area of interest, expertise, and continuing education is in drug screening technology, compliance, QC, collection, etc.

Coincidentally, my personal life remains tied to prescription drugs as well.  I can honestly say I am a functional prescription opiate addict.  I have been on and off opiates for 25+ yrs. It's only since May 05 (after a near fatal car accident where I broke my skull, neck C-1, face, clavicle,  3ribs, and crushed/demolished/pulverized 8 thoracic vertebrae T2-T10 and am now pieced/propped/stabilized/screwed full of $300,000.00 worth of stainless steel) that I have been eating them daily.  Have gone through the gamut but have settled in to 180 mg MS Contin and 60 mg Vicodin a day.

I have an absolutely huge tolerance that I wish would go away.

Anyway, found this site tonight, hope to contribute from my personal experience as well as my professional.

Take Care, Stay Safe, God Bless,

Karen M.

Just found this and thought I would join in

I am in my late thirties, mother of a beautiful 2 1/2 yr old who is healthy after a complicated pregnancy I was BLESSED!, married, and have quite a few health problems. When I was 23 yrs old my back "went out" for NO REASON, it just happened one day. I felt these shooting pains down my legs while driving and when I got back to my apt with a friend I fell to the floor & I broke out in a sweat & started to see all white (was getting ready to faint I guess) and that is when it all began... Long story short, for years even though my Mri's and X-rays etc... showed herniated disc and degenerative disc disease the Dr.'s kept saying I was to young!!! They don't say to young anymore! Very frustrating to have a Dr. show me the Mri, TELL me what it is and in the same sentence tell me I am to young. Prior to the Dr. I was layed up in bed & couldn't even get out of the bed to go to the bathroom !!!( I was 23 years old, wearing depend diapers having my mother care for me) and the Dr's gave me coedine 3 which i didn't know what it was but i knew i was in a lot of pain... fast forward to today and 3 back surgeries later and more health problems later still feel very frustrated with Dr's in every area whether it is for the back, high blood pressure, and NUMEROUS other problems. They all give me different answers to the different health issues I have, and 15 years later ( gave my age Tongue out I am still frustrated, and confused. Husband has had health problems as well after taking prednisone ended up with diabeties 2 ( don't know if prednisone was the cause a pharmacist said could be??) Came to this site to help out someone else but I found out it is GREAT, this is the first one I have been to and then I looked at a couple of others and didn't like so I am going to hang out here for awhile and see how it goes. So far I like the no judging (that is a biggie for me) and people seem to be very helpful and nice. I feel like I just found a 2nd home coming to this site, as weird as that may sound. Well have much more but this is getting really long... Sooo here it is if anyone interested. Jamie

October must be the intro month

I am a 26 year old computer engineering student, with a AS in Information Technology.  I originally started at a southern school to play baseball, but was in a car accident during winter vacation that put all of that on hold.  Long story short, I help my parents take care of my grandma, who is on many meds.  This site is where I originally came to find a picture of some weird medication she was on about a year ago, and have just been lurking before finally deciding to join in on the discussions.  I have been diagnosed with herniated discs L3-S1, with DDD from thoracic to sacrial.  It sucks, and I hate it.  I take meds for it daily, and am in a chronic pain clinic.  Because of my young age and completely degenerated spine, I get the pleasure of having labs drawn every month, kind of as a case study to see what may have caused the degeneration at such a young age.  Some docs said it could have started as early as 19, which could have been why the discs herniated so easily.  I'm not a surgicial candidate because of the possibility of a negative outcome, to which I say why wait until I'm too old to move.  I currently work for a shipping/manufacturing company on the overnight shift, which is fine with me.  Fewer people to see my gimpy limp.  Anyway, I'm not a sissy or panzy or anything like that, so that's not what I was going for in this post.  Just thought I'd id myself, as well as tell you that I am especially fond of the image sections.  Take care.

WAY TO GO

GOOD FOR YOU EAGLES 07.  I DONT THINK I AM AT THE ABUSE POINT YET BUT I CAN SEE WHERE IT COULD EASILY HAPPEN WITHOUT KEEPING A TIGHT REIN ON MYSELF.  IT IS CERTAINLY NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.  WE WITH THOSE ADDICTIVE PERSONALITIES ARE A LOT OF FUN BUT BOY WE CAN GET OURSELVES INTO STUFF.

MY SON (45) HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE LOCAL METHADONE CLINIC DUE TO AN ABUSE OF LORTAB.  HE HAS COME MANY MILES SINCE THEN AND SO I KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK.  DO YOU FEEL THE SUBOXONE HELPED YOU OR DID IT JUST EXCHANGE ONE DRUG FOR THE OTHER?

KEEP YOUR GOOD FEELINGS ABOUT YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU ARE A STRONG INDIVIDUAL WHO RECOGNIZED HIS OWN WEAKNESSES. SO MANY OF US DO NOT EVEN HAVE THAT MUCH STRENGTH AND THAT IS THE HARDEST OF ALL Cool SandyK from Florida

Thought I might jump on board as well

I'm an Iron Worker (the erection of structural steel for buildings and bridges) and was injured a couple years ago.  Ruptured discs L-4, L-5, S-1 and S-2.  So I went from someone who never took meds, even when they were prescribed to someone who is on them daily for chronic pain.  Started out with a variety of different meds which did'nt help.  Tried Ultracet for a few months then went to Davocet for about a year.  Now taking Lortab every day.  Percocet and diazepam when it gets real bad.  Concerned about the different meds that I had been prescribed, I started searching the web and found this site.  I've been checking it out for a year or so before becoming a member.  I think that it is the best site that I have come across.

WHY I AM HERE

FIRST OF ALL, I LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WORSE OFF THAN ME...JUST BURRIED MY BEST FRIEND THRU LUEKEMIA (SP?) WHO NEVER COMPLAINED! WELL ANYHOW...I WAS IN AN INDUSTRIAL ACCD. BUILDING A YACHT. WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD AND KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS BY A SIXTY FOOT PIECE OF MAHOGANY (CHINE RAIL) THAT WAS BENT AROUND HER HULL, TIL THE CLAMPS SNAPPED. THEY SAY MY BODY WHIPPED AROUND BUT FEET STAYED STILL, TEARING CARTILEDGE ALL OVER, FOUR KNEE SURGERIES HAVE TAKEN ALL THE LATERAL AND MEDIAL MENISCUS (CARTILEDGE) OUT, I NEED BOTH REPLACED BUT THEY SAY AM TOO YOUNG (37)(WAS 27), EVERY DISC IS DAMAGED, NOT ALL HORRIBLY, BUT L5-S1 IS WORST AS IT IS PRESSING AGAINST THECAL SAC (SPINAL CORD HOLDER), THORACIC DISCS HERNIATED, EVEN NECK...BUT WORST PART IS HEAD. HAD SEIZURES, BAD "BRAIN ACHES" AND NOTHIN SHOWED ON MY MRI'S, FINALLY HAD A P.E.T. SCAN WHICH, ALTHOUGH EXPOSES YOU TO OVER 10X THE RADIATION, MAKES MRI'S SEEM "DARK AGES". THE P.E.T. SHOWED PERFECTLY SYMETRICAL DAMAGE TO AN AREA OF THE BRAIN THAT MY NEURO LIKES TO CALL "GOOD BRAIN DAMAGE" B/C THOUGH THE PAIN, SHORT TERM MEMORY PROBS, AND SPACIAL DEFECIT...A CENTIMETER AWAY AND I COULD HAVE BEEN DROOLING OUT THE SIDE OF MY MOUTH FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH NO SPEECH OR MOTOR SKILLS...SO I WILL TAKE THIS, THANK YOU. ANYWAY I AM ON A MILLION MEDICINES, I REMEMBER 10 YRS. AGO WHEN THEY SHIPPED THEM TO MY HOUSE IN MASS QUANTITIES (THE GOOD OLD DAYS), B4 ALL THESE KIDS DECIDED TO MAKE SCRIPTION DRUGS THE "IT" THING, SO NOW WE ALL HAVE TO BE TREATED LIKE POTENTIAL CRIMINALS. MAN ALL KIDS DID WHEN I WAS IN H.S. WAS WEED AND ALCOHOL! I CAN NOT FATHOM LOOKING DOWN AT A PILL IN MY HAND, HAVING NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS, YET SWALLOWING IT! THESE KIDS ARE WACKED! ANYWAY, LIKE I SAID I GET ANYTHING, I AM ON OR HAVE FOR USE...NEURONTIN, DEPAKOTE, PHENERGAN, IMITREX, XANAX, VALIUM, LORCET, NORCO, CELEBREX, SKELAXIN, KLONOPIN, RESTORIL, AMBIEN, COMPOZENE, LODINE, AND PROB SOME I FORGOT...OBVIOUSLY I DON'T TAKE ALL OF THEM, DAILY...THINGS JUST DEPEND, BUT THOSE ARE MY SCRIPTS. I HAVE TRIED PATCHES AND EXTEND RELEASES LIKE OXYCONTIN AND HATED IT, I THINK OXY IS EVIL, IT DID THE SAME FOR MY BUDDY, DEPRESSION, TIRED, LETHARGIC, WEAK PAIN CONTROL COMPARED W/FAST ACTING...YET I HAVE TRIED OXYCODONE FAST RELEASE AND HAVE NO COMPLAINT, SO I MAY HAVE BEENALERGIC TO SOMETHING IN THE CONTIN, MY EYES HURT AND ALL. WELL HOPE ALL YOU WELL, WAS ASKED TO FILL THIS PART OUT AND FIGURED, SURE...SORRY IT IS SO LONG! ANYONE NEED LEGAL ADVICE I AM GOOD WITH.   -TERRY

I want to join in too

I am a 29 year old LPN married with two beautiful children, my son, 2 1/2 and my daughter 1 1/2.  I was diagnosed shortly after the birth of my daughter with Hepatitis B (I had received two units of "bad blood" during my C-section).  When my Interferon and Epivir treatments began I became very interested in different medications and how they work and effect people (actually, I became scared).  I've been through a slew of medications over the past year for my many ailments associated with my Hep B, so, I am especially grateful to all of you who post your facts and opinions on this site.

Well -- My Turn

Even though I have been here for a while I guess I will let everyone know who is answering questions and sharing information.

I am married and the mother of 2 beautiful girls. Jade & Tyler. I married my high-school lover and we have been together almost 12 years. Like a lady said before (above me some where) One day I was having pain in my back ( I really felt like I couldn't poop...lol)and just fell out. For years the doctors couldn't figure it out. After my second child it happened again but much worst and after many many tests they showed a herniated disc (L4/5) and degenerative disc disease. The Dr.'s too kept saying I was to young and that this shouldn't be happening. I too was 23 maybe 24. They started me on Vicodin and through a few years as my tolerance built I kept moving up. When they noticed that the disc was now bulging and cracked I was given the option to try and replace the disc with a fake one. Because I am very small statured they decided that I wouldn't be a good candidate and said that the fusion was my best bet. I pondered over this for a year and decided that it was worth a try. Right now I am full of metal, pins,a cage and numerous other parts that very kindly set off the metal detectors! LOL I have had NO pain relief and the disc below is slowly following the same path. With the weight of the metal and the inability to move that part of my spine ensures that I will have no choice but to go back in. I think that I am in more pain than ever and they are still trying to get the doses and such correct. I used to be the Director for a before and after school extended learning program but since October I resigned because I felt awful for being unreliable when I was having bad days. Now I play Sims and am a PTA Mom. Still very active in the school for my girls and do anything that I can. I think I have a good sarcastic sense of humor about my ailments but as anyone knows when your in pain 90% of the time you can only fake it so much. Having to quit my job and no longer help financially has hurt my ego but I hope one day that will change.

Well that's me! I love this site because no judges and the majority of the people that are here help with their hearts and souls! I am just glad to be a part of it!

Hi Ash .. I am about 15 miles north of Clearwater,  Holiday to be exact. I too have help the victims of the hurricanes but mostly with food & supplies. I don't think I could ever in good conscience not help when it is needed.

All blood in the US has been tested for hepatitis B for many years now.  If you are a nurse, you should have been vaccinated for hepatitis B when you started clinical work.  Are you sure you got Hep B from a transfusion 1 1/2 years ago?

About Me

I am a 27 yr old mother of two with alot of pain, although I have just started seeing the dr. for it.  Some days I have trouble getting out of bed.  My mother has degenerative disc disease, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis so I would imagine they will find something that I don't want to hear that it is.  I found this website when I was trying to figure out what kind of pill a friend of mine found in a bottle in her bathroom and liked the way everyone treated each other and decided to join. Laughing

Doc... thanks for noticing the quote.. modest mouse is an amazing band, they guy is a genius lyricist. A musical genius overall actually. I agree, The Moon and Antarctica is a great album.. I couldn't pick a favorite album though, because I love them all. :)

introduction

I am 49, female, who started using in 1999.  Cancer was my introduction to hydro.

I am free now, (of C and hydro) and hopefully will be able to find the inner strength to saty that way.

I am trying to re enter the work force after this long fight.  Hopefully someone will recognize I am an asset.  lol

This site has been a life saver for me.  I don't feel like I have to hide my addiction.  It is an outstanding place to VENT! Also the information is great.

I live in Montana and hope I can become the person I was before hydro.
