I am a meth addict in Alabama who desperately needs methadone treatment. The nearest clinic is an hour away making it impossible to drive every day. Is there any other option than just getting them off the street? Can I get them by mail from any overseas pharms? Traditional 12 step programs for meth have over a 90% failure rate, so I will not spend time and money on something that is almost guaranteed to fail, when there is a pill that completely takes away my craving. I am close to mississippi so if the laws are different it would be possible to go there
Incognito is correct. Methadone (or other medications) won't help with methamphetamine dependency.
Excerpt from the Office of National Drug Control Policy Fact Sheet for Methamphetamine:
Treatment
There are no pharmacological treatments for methamphetamine dependence.
Antidepressant medications can be used to combat the depressive
symptoms of withdrawal. The most effective treatment for
methamphetamine addiction is cognitive behavioral interventions,
which modify a patient's thinking, expectancies, and behavior
while increasing coping skills to deal with life stressors.
I am taking methadone for opiate addiction, and know that traditionally methadone isn't used to treat methamphetamine addiction, however, at our clinic we have a number of patients who came to the clinic for crack/cocaine addiction and have been treated effectively. I, myself, have some experience with "speed". I was getting Didrex online and also buying Adderall(LOVED IT) off the street while I was going to the methadone clinic. I felt great while I was doing it, but it really messed me up emotionally coming off of it. It was horrible, so I feel your pain, but the methadone did help slightly with that. I had to increase my dose of methadone for a month or so afterwards. I would suggest anti-depressants AND treatment, whether it be methadone or whatever. It may help you. Call your nearest methadone clinic and talk with a counselor. They can give you better advice.
But if you are going to get it off the street anyway, only start with 30mgs a day and go up to 60mgs a day SLOWLY. (5mgs a day increase) See if that gives you any relief.
I will repeat, Methadone has been researched and shown little or no
effect on amphetamine addiction. And 30mg could be dangerous for a
person who is opiate naive.
I think the point of methadone is supposed to get you off opiates, so starting at 30mgs and going up is completely pointless - that would make you MORE dependant on opiates. From my understanding you would start at a certain dosage and slowly go down from there, increasing would make no sense... Unless you are using methadone recreationaly, there would be absolutely no reason to up the dose. Correct me if I am wrong.
One idea for the poster who said they were addicted to methamphedamine might be trying to get lorazepam (Ativan) or possibly thorizine from a doctor. Methadone would just get you addicted to another substance I believe.
Exactly, taking methadone at all or increasing dosage would
only lead to possible addiction to two substances instead of one. But,
I guess you have to expect some random advice when posting on a board.
Try a google search for "methamphetamine treatment" or "methamphetamine treatment centers" they will be able to help you more than we can. Professional help will prevail over self-medication to treat addiction plain and simple.

When you say meth, I assume methamphetamine.
Methadone is NOT a treatment for methamphetamine use. It is used to treat heroin addicts. Heroin is an opiate and is methadone. These two drugs affect the cns in a different way than methamphetamine does. As far as I know, methadone won't do any good.
