Whats the difference between brandname oxycodone and generic oxycodone? Is there a difference in strength in the brand name and generic's? Are the g164 by impax weaker then the green OC80 brand name pills? Im curious about this... Is there truly a difference? When they are manufactured are the brand named pill's manufactured differently from the generic's? Does the amount of medicine fluctuate in the generics?

Does anybody know the true facts behind these Questions?

Your help would be greatly appreciated I just started recieving the generic's by impax and I was taking the purdue 80mg's.... Im not so sure the G164's are doing the job like the green one's were, The pills never completly took the pain away but it seems as though im in more pain now that im taking the generics. Any Information would be great... Thank you!

Different people have different preferences when it comes to generic oxycontin pills.  I personally feel that Purdue makes the best oxycodone ER pills.  As far as the generics I think Watson makes the most similar and most effective extended release oxycodone pills. You can barely tell any difference in my opinion.  Others say Teva's are the best.  I don't agree with this.  I don't think Endo's are that good either.  I have never had the Impax ones but I think both teva and impax use anti-abuse fillers which may or may not effect the therapeutic effect of the drug.  I would recommend trying Watson's generic 80's if you cannot get the brand name oxy's.  If you can get Purdue OC 80's then I would suggest this over all generic brands.

P.S. there was a chat a couple weeks ago which discussed what is allowable as in active ingredients in generic pills.  But I would advise looking on the FDA's website about this.
