Acepromazine UseI want to know if anyone knows about this pill or have tried it before. I have two 25 miligram pills and want to know if it would do anything to me if I took them? There was a post on this before but no one really answered what i wanted to know that well. ( categories: Discussion of Prescription and OTC Meds )
Since it is only available
Since it is only available for use in dogs, it wouldn't be very smart. The post you are referring, didn't have any posts regarding personal experiences, just info about the drug.
Here is one post from another board or Read entire thread "It's related to drugs like thorazine and haldol. Good bet is it would down you out and make your mind resemble a TV set that got the cord pulled out of the wall: Little white spot fading out to nothingness - followed by waking up and feeling like there is a lead weight tied around your brain that's dragging you to the floor. That's what this class of drugs does to mental patients. In that this particular molecule is only seen in veterinary medicine, it might well have shown a higher propensity for causing tardive dyskinesia (TD). TD is a well-known side effect of the phenothiazine class of major tranquilizers. It results in the drug having eaten a permanent hole in the brain stem of people. This results in shuffling of the feet while walking, drooling, and flailing of the arms. As well as other symptoms resembling Parkinson's disease."
as flattering as that
all thoughts and opinions expressed are those of my own and should not be mistaken for medical advice. i am not a doctor nor a pharmacist. all medical questions should be answered by a licensed pharmacist, doctor, or primary care manager. acepromazine (atrovet)
Not quite as dangerous as other meds of its kind Atrovet is used extensively in equine and k-9 medicine.Usually as a prelude to more intense anistetic. Its very good at relaxing frantic or agressive behavior. It also helps prevent vomiting and balances out heart rates.(ie)great for panicing animals, but no real use for humans. I think the real question
I think the real question at hand is: Is it really worth risking serious medical problems or death for a little bit of fun? (should be one easy answer, and it starts with an N) Or better yet poison control, you can reach them at 1800-222-1222 Either way, there is a chance you might need the number above anyway.
Or you might want to google "Darwin awards"
Why don't you ask your doctor or your vet and see what they have to say about it? Im done with this post, maybe someone else will be willing to help you out. Good luck. What makes you want to take
What makes you want to take a phenothiazine? It wont have any recreational value, and it will just knock you out. It is an aliphatic phenothiazine, just like chlorpromazine (Thorazine). Whether or not it is used in humans irrelevant, as it is a simple phenothiazine. Unless you have an allergy to phenothiazines, or are mixing it with CNS depressants, it will just knock you out. And, you would have the same nasty side-effects that Thorazine has. Are you curious because it is a veterinary med? Because most vet medicines are the same, or in the same class as the meds rx'd to humans. Throw it away.
It's like Phenergan for doggies
It's like Phenergan or Compazine (anti-nausea/sedative in the same family as Thorazine) for doggies...I'm sure you've heard of the Thorazine shuffle.....I have some from the vet leftover from when Winston was alive....God Rest his little soul.....Now i have a teacup chihuahua, that had pneumonia and they gave me some little tiny pills for him to take for coughing......I went home and looked on the internet only to find out that the pills were Butorphanol (Stadol)....I couldn't believe it....It is used as a vet med for coughing in dogs and such, because of all the hype with OTC cough and cold preps the vets prefer to treat with Torbutrol (butorphanol)....I take the same drug only in a nose spray for migraine headaches....And it is some strong stuff 1mg intranasally will KNOCK U OUT.......Oh, and the acepromazine....comparable to compazine used for nausea in humans...in the same family of drugs....I personally wouldn't take it, but i think if you did at a proper doseage you'll just be a little sleepy, and un-nauseated...lol Ray Remember: Just do it..
