Xanax and ativan interactionsI was recenty diagnosed with severe panic attacks. I have been taking xanax and they help tremendously. I also have ativan and need to know if anyone can tell me if it's dangerous to mix the two. (I just ran out of my xanax this morning and my doctor is on vacation.) If I were to take an ativan this evening would this be dangerous and cause a drug interaction with the xanax? Thanks so much in advance to anyone who answers. Drug Interactions
You might try the Drug Interaction tool at Wall's Medicine & Health Center. It's harder to use than some other interaction tools but seems to be more complete. I tried three different checkers; one gave me only alcohol as a no-no, and the other contraindicated only grapefruit juice. Maybe I did something wrong with the two other checkers, but the Clinical Pharmacology interaction tool at Wall's works well. I'm not a pharmacist or a medical doctor. in theroy that shouldnt be a bad combo. the only way that is MIGHT be a problem would be if the xanax was an extended release version. w/ that being said, the other issue would be the total mg ammount of both. as long as you are ok in both of those respects then you SHOULD be fine. as w/ all serious issues this should be discussed w/ your doctor. if your doctor isnt available then try an ask-a-nurse line. best of luck. have a great weekend. all thoughts and opinions expressed are those of my own and should not be mistaken for medical advice. i am not a doctor nor a pharmacist. all medical questions should be answered by a licensed pharmacist, doctor, or primary care manager. |
