As far as I understand, neuroleptics are "anti-psychotic" medications. Lortab and Norco are both narcotic combination analgesics. The difference between the two is the amount of acetaminophen, or tylenol. I have noticed that Mallinckrodt, in my opnion, makes an inferior product. I request to my pharmacy that my prescription be filled with Watson whenever possible. I believe you said somewhere that you did not like the Watson generic, if so, just continue to ask for a different manufacturer if your pharmacy has them. Sometimes, the pharmacy only keeps a certain manufacturer on hand, depending on who gives them the better price. Also, Mallinckrodt is usually cheaper than Watson, at least where I live, so when patients do not have insurance, their prescription is filled with Mallinckrodt. You don't have to worry about your pain meds being neuroleptics. Don't quote me on that, because like everyone else on this board, I am no doctor or pharmacist. I simply have the same pain problems and want to help others as others have helped me. There are many more posters on this board who are more qualified than I to answer this question. Hopefully, Kirby, Phisher, Rawoody, Incognito, or Da Purdue Pharmacist will hop in here and answer this question. Take care, and I hope you get some relief. Avinza and Duragesic are neither one neuroleptics either. They are long acting narcotic medications.

Hey there, I too was on the dosage you are taking. I was just upped to four times a day. I am getting a little relief, but am convincing myself that it is working because I do not want to go on to the CII medications. I know that sometimes adding a regular strength tylenol helps a little, as you basically turn your Norco into Lortab via the extra acetaminophen. You still come up short to the 10/500, but it sometimes works. Has your doc discussed using a long acting med like Avinza or Duragesic. Those are the two that are being pushed on me as of now, but I have resisted. I think I may have to at least try them though, because you are right. The relief is minimal. Hope this helps a little, and hang in there. Pain sucks
