Mylan generic Vs. REAL Xanax

Hi, just picked up my prescribed generic Xanax (Mylan A1) and as soon as I got home, was dumbfounded to find that all the researrch on this manufacturer seems to interrogate that this pill/manuf. "is no stronger than a placebo" compared to the original Xanax manufacturers/non-generic forms. (Eg: Upjohn) ...

Does anyone notice a difference in effects/strength between the two, (if you have had the oppurtunity to compare in the past), that is??

Thanks for any info.

Nice pic/avatar.

Nice pic/avatar.  Different.  I don't understand your question, but will assume that you are asking about generic vs. namebrand.  This has been covered many times in various threads.  I'm not sure how a manufacturer interrogates something.  The two drugs should be equivalent, although I have read that the "fillers" can vary by 20%.

Your Mylan A1's are just fine!

The Mylan Brand has its gerneric version of XANAX. Thier way of alprazolam is just different then sandoz or upjohn or purac which are all alprazolam brands. In fact the Mylan A4 which is a circular 4 sectioned 2mg generic XANAX is usually cheaper and in my experiance in being addicted to theese buggers, trust me when i say this buy generics dont waste your insurance or your real money, generics take 7 years of trial studies before they can be RXed. So you dont need to fear your 1mg Alprazolam "Mylans" to be a placebo.

mylan diazepam

I am not sure about the generic mylan alprazolam but I know from experience that the mylan generic valium (diazepam) does not seem to be nearly as potent as the original roche version or even the watson or ivax generics. It may just be me but I feel like a 10mg mylan diazepam tablet affects me abuot as much as a 5mg of the brand or another generic. I have also heard from a friend that the brand xanax seems to be stronger in his opinion than any of the generics. Not sure if anyone else has experienced similar effects but I and some friends certainly have. Hope this gives you some insight.

Thanks all for your response. It seems Im still confused, as some of you say yay and some of you say nay.... but I'll take your word for it, since it seems to be the majority that its just as potent.

Alprazolam is generic

Alprazolam is generic Xanax.  The active ingredient in Xanax is Alprazolam, therefore; the two pills should be therapeutically the same.  Some of the top posters can link up to the original thread that discussed this in length.

mylan vs. brand name xanax

I have been on xanax for a while now for anxiety.  As of recent, I don't have health insurance and I switched to generic xanax (Mylan 2mg).  And I must tell you that they are by far way weaker than the brand name.  My regular dosage for xanax DAW was .5 mg and that was working perfectly to calm my anxiety.  However, with Mylan, I feel as if I have to take 4 times the dosage to get the same effect as with the brand name.  Of course there are better generic versions than Mylan.  I tried a bar version of generic xanax and that seemed to work just as well as the brand name.  Hope this helps.

I agree with JeckPDX

The Mylan generic Valium is about as potent as a peanut M&M (the blue M&M's of course). This is just my opinion. But I'm sure I'm not alone.

Mylan brand of Alprazolam

Hi,

I have been taking the Sandoz brand of Alprazolam 0.5mg for quite some time and it has always agreed with me. It did the job of reducing my anxiety. However, after my brain surgery caused from a ruptured aneurysm in 2005, I went to refill my prescription and found that Walmart had switched to the Mylan brand. After taking the Mylan brand for just two days I became very sick to my stomach. I ended up going to Rite Aid which has been special ordering the Sandoz brand for me since that time. I recently decided to try the Mylan again because Rite Aid isn't open on weekends and keeps losing pharmacists and I have been told by my doctor not to stop taking Alprazolam suddenly since it can result in seizures if stopped abruptly. The Mylan once again made me very nauseous and I was unable to take it. I have been told that the fillers are all different in generic medicines and that whatever they mix the medication with can cause a lot of other problems. I also believe that the generics are a lot weaker than the brand names. I hope this has been helpful.

It must be a filler or

It must be a filler or binder that is making you sick because if anything i actually prefer the mylan generic for the 2mg xanax (white circle x scored on back with mylan A4 on front).
