SERIOUSLY...OTHER THAN "PEOPLES MINDS PLAYING ON THEM" IS THERE ANY ACTUAL EVIDENCE THAT I SHOULD PREFER 1 HYDROCODONE SCRIPT OVER ANOTHER? ALL THIS NEGATIVE "MALLINCKRODT" TALK...MAKES ME WONDER IF SOMETHING ISN'T TRUE HERE? THAT IS THE LORCET BRAND I GET...THEN , MY NORCO IS FROM "QUALITEST PHARMACEUTICALS"...WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY "REALISTIC" OR "PERSONAL EXPERIENCE" YOU HAVE...I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET, I CERTAINLY DON'T NEED TO BE TAKING A WEAKER MED THAN INTENDED...(I AM AWARE THAT THE SUBSTANTIVE INGREDIANTS MUST MIRROR THOSE OF THE BRAND, BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF LEEWAY W/FILLERS/CUTTING AGENTS AS WELL) WELL, THANKS FOR ANY HELP....
When I was taking these pills:
The 'Mallincrodt norco's hardly touched my pain. The generic Watsons, (yea, generic by the same company) were the most effective for me. More effective than the brand Watsons or Qualitest ones.
Mallinckrodt's generic vicodin 5/500 have always worked just as well as the watson 349 variety. As far as th qualitest 5/500, those felt weaker. I too prefer the watson brand norco 529 and watson 853 and lortab 10/500s watson 540 were just as good as the brand from UCB pharma. I know that mall's generic paercocets suck compared to watson or endo, especially the 512's that are generic 5/325s. The 10/325s were ok as well as th 10/650s. They both seemed to work as well as the endos or watsons. However, the oxy IR mallinckrodt makes are terrible. I don't know how but I could take 5 of them and not feel a thing for pain relief, and then I switched pharmacies got the amide 15's and 30's and roxanes 5mg. Upon getting these I took 2 5mg's (as opposed to the 5 mall 5s I tooks and felt nothing), I had almost complete pain relief within the hour. It was wonderful. From now on, with the exception of vicodin and 10mg percocets, I will have my pharmacy special order fron the manufacturer I specify regardless of negligable price differences so I ensure get adequete pain relief as all the generics should do.
Maybe mallinckrodt make their generic 5/500 of better quality or something that ensures the product will be equipotent to its competitors and of the the brand which it is based since that is the #1 most prescribed best selling generic drug in the nation and mall wants to keep the cash coming in
This applies to narcotic analgesics only, not other meds manufactured by mallinckrodt. Wherever possible I have included the imprint of the particular pill being discussed to try and help avoid confusion,
This thread picques my curiosity sorry to ramble for so long

JackPDX, this is not in response to your post, but just this thread in general.
I'm sure there have been "double blind" studies of this type of thing, but please work with me here.
Imagine you are in a controlled environment, and have no way to identify your pill. This is a complete "what-if" statement, because I realize that all US drug manufacturers have to have an imprint on their product.
But pretend your nurse brings you in your pill, no markings on it and is plain white. Nothing to suggest to you what the pill may be. The nurse tells you, this is your Vicodin. I wonder how many people would be able to truly tell a difference between Mallinckrodt, Watson, Qualitest, etc if they did not know what brand their pill was. I think we all become accustomed to certain things, and in doing so, we develop a "relationship" so to speak, with our medications. That being said, i hate it when my pharmacy stocks Mallinckrodt, but I also realize that by law, the tablet has to contain the same amount of active ingredient and can not vary (with the exception of fillers) much. I guess this can be reduced to a hypothetical question: If your tablet has no markings on it, but you can be rest assured that it is Vicodin or any other pain pill, would you still be able to tell the difference between each brand? One reason I am asking this on the board is because I know there are many posters out there who have read the studies on things like this, and I am looking for a link to any study someone might be able to send. Thanks everyone, and I too, apologize for the rambling.

Well, when I broke my back I was prescribed to ''generic vicodin''... and also tramadol. I couldn't ever tell the difference if it was generic or not. It worked fine for me, and always has. Same with any other medications, for a short while I was prescribed to alprazolam.. (generic xanax), and it worked just fine. So, there's my input, although it isn't much. *smile* Hope it helped, but if not, then my apologies.

Hey there- I personally know (for me) Qualitest is way better than the Mall version of Norco. It is in my opinion a much better product with a longer longevity deal. Why I don't know -but yes there is that deal with binders, yadda, yadda. Everyone is different, pain thresholds are also different for each individual with chronic maladies-good luck & GO BEARS!
