Check This thread as this exact same question has been posed before. The active ingredients are the same, however; there may be up to a 20% variance in the filler agents. So, yes and no. It is still hydrocodone/apap; 10/325. However, the brand you now have is made by Watson Pharmaceuticals instead of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. Gtrplayer It is odd that you say that
It is odd that you say that considering that most patients I have heard from prefer the watson generic norco 10 to 1. Most people despise the mallinckrodt (M367) and will purposely go out of the way to go to a pharmacy where they do not stock mall. I too prefer the watson and endo generics for my percocet. That boxed M just never seemed to cut it as well as the others. Scientifically, there can be a variance of up to 20% between brands and generics so one that works better for one person might not for another so to speak. PDX I agree with JeckPDX. In
I agree with JeckPDX. In my opinion, Watson has always made a better generic. However; ever since my first prescription, I had grown accustomed to seeing "Watson" on my medicine. When the pharmacy switched one month to Mallinckrodt, I thought they were an inferior medicine. That being said, I still like the idea of the "blind taste test" to see if it's really the drug you notice a difference in, or if the simple imprint itself is enough to make you think you are not getting the same drug. Either way, I think it's been established on the board that all people have different likes and dislikes when it comes to which company they prefer. Gtrplayer I always assumed that laws
I always assumed that laws would be more strict when it comes to this. Until someone brought this subject up a week or so ago I really didn't notice the difference. But once I actually got to thinking about it I've noticed that Mallinckrodt is actually not as effective when it comes to oxycodone (IR). In fact, I've found taking half of a 15mg "a 214" by Amide Pharms, to be just as effective (maybe even more effective) than two 5mg "512"s by Mallinckrodt. Perhaps we should start convincing our local pharmacies to avoid being so loyal to certain manufacturers? I know my local pharmacy loves Teva Pharms far too much. ----- Tuna Hey all
I have found that I like mallinkrodt better than Watson. I had some MS Contin 30's that were great. I recently tried the blue Watson 15's at the same dosage and found them to be seriously lacking. Pain relief for a while, but not quite the extent of the m's. not trying to stir the pot, but I think it is all subjective. I hate pidgeonholing certain companies is detremental to the new poster, however, I agree with everyone in saying that each person is different and responds differently to meds. -J |
